He backed into my bike, knocking it over, scuffing the carbon fibre nicely, breaking the indicator and generally battering the RHS. And the barsteward didn't stop. I had a chat with the 'nice' police officer doing the rounds in Matlock Bath, but he couldn't give a toss.

What a t0sser At least you wernt on the bike at the time , track him down and make him pay . If you have got his reg go to the police sation and report it surely its a crime to leave the scene of an accident ???

I would have thought so. But the afformentioned 'nice' police officer didn't seem to agree with my notion as to what constituted an accident. This might be one of those -get your husband involved- situations. Which really get me pi55ed.

I hope you got the "serial" number of the robot in the funny hat you dealt with as clearly he/she is a buffoon and should not be wearing the uniform.

About 6 years ago outside of my office in Bristol, a landrover knocked a parked motorbike over whilst cutting a sharp corner. Three people from inside our office (including me) saw it and we left a note on the bike stating the time of the incident landrover reg number witness names and our office switchboard number.

I got a call two hours later from the owner of the bike, police had traced the landrover to a company in surrey. A few days later the bike owner called by the office to say thanks and let me know that the police had visited the company and established the vehicle was a company directors car which had been lent to his student daughter to move "student digs" around Bristol. Upshot of it was the bike was repaired with the bill being paid by the girls father directly. I don't know if the driver got charged but the guy with the bike was more concerned that he didn't have to pay to repair the bike.

Only advice I can give is the obvious get as many witnesses as possible and was your bike parked in an area covered by video camera?

And our lesson for the day....

Why are police going to catch drivers who actually cause accidents and leave the scene when they can firm up their divisions budget by fining speeders on the off chance that staistics say they may cause an accident once in every "billion" years.

PS - As usual my errr "spin" on the police is not aimed at the good guys at street level but the out of touch jobsworths and bigwig chiefs more interested in performance tables than actually fighting real crime.

Oh and sometimes figures are made up!

Generally find the cops on the street pretty reasonable, even the spot checkers in Matlock Bath are more bothered about genuinely dangerous/stupid infractions than things like illegal exhausts and colored lights. But this guy really couldn't have given a sh1t and seemed to have the 'all bikers are criminals' attitude that I'd thought had died out years ago. I suspect that Aquarium Amusements will have CCTV (anyone know ?) that might have covered the incident, and I've got the details of a witness (big fella on a custom - should've got him to 'sort it' !) who is happy to back me up.
I'm really pi55ed because the 'bike's got quite a few custom ally and carbon bits, some of which took some sourcing and it might be a few weeks before I can get it sorted. Good excuse for a new set of mufflers though Anyone know a good cans guy (I fancy titanium) ?

You would think the plate would be a bra size, yet the driver was 65+ and looked a bit like

I guess the plate must mean something else
