Ok folks,

I'm looking at a really nice example of a 2001 Hornet 600 with 9K on the clock. The guy is asking 3700 pounds.
Wadda ya think?

A bit steep
A quick scan of AutoTrader had £4k to be the top price for 2002 bike and the cheapest 2001 was £2,700 for a 2001

Does it need new tyres, chain & sprockets, brake pads, servicing? All this would make a great difference to the price. Always consider condition and the number of consumables required over mileage imo.

Also the price of used bikes has bombed over the last few years so that may be what he believes it's worth but always check in bike trader to see what else is available. As an example I was offered 3500 for my 2 year old uk fireblade a month a go by trade and it's worth about 4500 privately. Although I'd like the best price for my bike I'd say it's madness to pay over the odds considering the sheer number of bike available at such low prices.

£3700 bit steep. New they are £4k. Should not need new chain or sprocket at 9k, maybe at 20k.
Check SH, every 4k miles it needs a service. Remember 2 yr honda warranty.

I just sold my 2000 hornet with 25k on clock with FSH for £2100. I was mint too, it had just had new chain sprocket and new discs due to disc lock incident...and I bought it when it was one year old with 5k on clock FSH for £3500...

Quick note on this, in order for the warrenty to be valid it will need to be serviced at the mileage interval or the time interval (6 months I think) or the warranty will be invalid. It will also need to be serviced at an authorised honda service centre.

Not that you'll need to claim I imagine. My blade has been absolutely bomb-proof.

Thanks all,
I didn't get it, as I thought it was too expensive for the milage etc.
Its seems here that I can't get a hornet cheaper than 3000 ukp (a 2000, 20K). Maybe I should buy one from the Uk ...
cheers

Christalive!! I was hoping to pay 3500 quid + for a 5 year old Honda RVF400.

Why are the little RVF's so expensive. I mean its not like they're new (they stopped making them in 97 I think).

Looking at bike values I would probably be cheaper off getting a more modern 600. Trouble is I reckon it would be too powerefull for a complete rookie.
