Yeah, I seen a few reviews of this. Not too sure myself - it makes sense I suppose, but I think it'll be a bit like 4WD , some will have it and some won't.

this has been tested to prove a benefit in trials bikes and in the severe wet. but in principal of good conditions, like any good sports car its rear wheel drive, then bikes also are better in RWD. even 4wd arent as good as RWD ( in a sporting way )without complicated electronics to manage diffs and brakes.

apparently the same system was tested on a modified R1 on a wet track with outstanding results.

i remember reading that in MCN the R1 looked production ready as well

I seem to remember a similar thing from years ago, but it was driven via chain to the front wheel.
Interesting stuff.
