Price for tyre fitting?

Hi all

Quick question please: what do you pay for getting motorcycle tyres fitted (assuming you're supplying them?)

Been quoted £30 per wheel if I bring them loose, or £40 if I bring the bike to them and they take the wheels off (so £60 and £80 as I want both doing).

This is the south east for reference.

Merityre do them for £15 loose, but won't do them on the bike.

Not much help but that’s either expensive for loose wheels or cheap for a ride in ride out service.

There’s more than 10 quids worth of different in taking off and reinstalling wheels.

I called my local Merityre today and they quoted £33 fitted to a loose wheel. I thought that was expensive as last time I paid £10 at a bike workshop.

Is the £15 quoted anywhere or do each branch make it up as they go along?

I pay £15 + disposal in south east.

£30 for a loose wheel is way too much.

I fit my own for the convenience even at £15.

It does seem a bit strange, if a garage is charging £60 p/h it gives them half an hour to change the actual tyre but only ten minutes to remove and then refit each wheel, depends how quickly the mechanic can work I suppose?

I paid £20 per loose wheel a couple of weeks back and the fitter offered to drop them back at my house on his way home too.

I paid £80 for two loose wheels inc disposal recently - I was quite surprised at the bill, but this was the first time I've ever had to do it.

If anyone has any recommendations for south Northants/MK let me know

How many garages charge £60.00 per hour?

We (main dealer) charge £72 for a pair of tyres to be fitted. Or £36 for a single tyre. That’s a ride in/ride out cost.

If someone brings us a loose wheel it’s £15 for one or £30 for a pair.

The high price is likely because you are bringing them a tyre, rather than letting them supply it. It's a go-away price.

I was quoted £30 for a loose wheel in 2008, and found similar sort of prices locally. I thought fk that and ended up just fitting them myself from then on.

Back when I got other people to fit tyres, it was free fitting to a loose wheel if you bought the tyre from them.

I think £30 loose is a fair price per wheel.

After all the poor business have go to pay Wages, utilities, rent, rates, insurance, wear and tear on equipment etc.

Apart from the dealer above saying they do it for £15.

It’s 10 minutes work and most of that is balancing.

There's a difference between someone whose only or main business is tyres and someone who wants to soak up your business bylookong for other work or getting you on site into their doors.

Getting a tyre fitted for £15 is very different to a free mot that may or may not end up in extra work.

£15 is entirely fair. I’d very happily employ someone to fit 5 tyres an hour at minimum wage. It would be an incredible roi even with top end equipment.

That's a very simplicitic view. Is that a full business every business hour all year round and what do you do in winter months. Staff sickness, NI/tax or when you damage a wheel?
