BMW R1200RS too low/too much wind flow?
Discussion
I'm 5'11, screen in the low position puts cleaner airflow to the head. Taller screens are available. Often thought high seat might suit me. Yes it's low, weight is low so it's easy to move around and maneouver at low speeds, even two up with luggage. Comfy, 8+ hour days, but if you're 6ft+ I think the ergos will need some work.
I had one for 12 months.
I’m 180cm and the screen in its highest position directed the wind straight to my forehead so I rode with it at its lowest setting as that was more tolerable.
I also got a stiff backside after about 45 minutes and needed to take a break.
I now have a TL 1000s which I find more comfortable and have ridden more in 2 months than I did the BMW in 12.

Has mine 4 years, I'm 6'2" & put a Wunderlich tall seat on it last year as my knees were complaining after 90mins in the saddle. Much better with the additional height, I didn't want to lower the pegs as I do the occasional track day & can confirm footpegs deck out before the cylinder heads! Mine came with a puig touring screen, but my head is still above it in the tall position so find it a bit noisy.
I'll go away on it once/twice a year, 2 weeks in Spain & Portugal last year 2up covering 1800 miles & a week in France/Belgium/Germany this year solo covering 1500 miles. It's a brilliant bike for that sort of trip, I like the slightly "sporty" riding position & the grunt from the twin means you are rarely in the wrong gear for an overtake.
You've had an R1200R I think? So not a huge amount different.

R1250RS here and 6ft, the ergonomics are identical to the 1200.
My solution was a BMW sports seat (off eBay) and a screen extension, I got the Wunderlich, which is beautifully made but a cheap eBay special would do just as well.
The sports seat just eases my knees a bit but it can throw more weight onto your wrists. The wunderlich seat looks very good.
I also tried a Powerbronze extended screen but prefer the extension piece as you can vary the angle to suit.
Second what baxb says about sporty touring

I'm struggling to understand what the question is here, or if it's just a banter thread about the R1200RS.
Whether a screen height works for a rider can really only be answered by that rider. One riders acceptable is another riders totally unacceptable, even when the riders are the same size.
There are raised, flip up and double bubble alternative screens available if you find the standard scree doesn't work for you so I think you can be confident that you'll be able to find a screen that works for you.
