They are mate. Luckily I sold 6 of mine about 15 months ago, if I’d of waited I think I would have been sadly disappointed.

I actually saw a CBX about 4 years ago and memories came back as a work mate had a 750 mid 70's.....I had a CB200! But when the CBX came out it was like WTF......Looked up prices and saw they were selling for £20 to £25k and hence the shock at the B n Cas prices. Have been thinking of getting a nice 750 for a while....maybe wait a year????

The last 3 on eBay have gone for £10k or just under including a lovely restored one.

That’s not a lot of money considering its iconic status.

It’s interesting and not a bit heartbreaking browsing the sold section and seeing just how cheap some of the older bikes are going for.

The very tidy '76 Goldwing I'm looking at is asking £2000.
It'll likely go for under £1500.
Big of a bargain me thinks

If your looking at bikes on eBay it’s a good idea to look at recent sold prices rather than the optimistic asking price of the seller.

Always the way, no?

Those that wanted the bikes/cars of a specific era either don't ride anymore or are dying off hence prices plummet.

Even worse with the preceeding lot - yet at the same time the newer stuff is getting more expensive.

Yep, nostalgia is like a wave through time, the old stuff is fading away as those who wanted them are dying off, while bikes from the 80's and 90's are starting to rise. Even Vincents and Goldstars are seeing prices falling.

It's likely to be the mileage that's effecting the value of that example. The Bike Specialists in Sheffield have one with half the mileage up at £13K, which a number of years ago would have been around the £8K mark.

Certain retailers are notable for high sticker prices ans a very slow turnover of stock.

There are immaculate museum-grade 25 year old bikes which have never been out in the rain, and there are 'used classics'.

A 25 year old bike with under 20k miles on it obviously didn't persuade any of its owners to ride it very often, or very far!

As with most marques, there are a great many Hondas with some claim to being 'special' or 'collectable'.
CBX-6 was a bit of a Hondapotamus really.

I agree - I respect what it is but it's not my thing. I hadn't realised previously that the prices for the CBX-6 had gone so high. You've got to have a huge 'must have' desire to own to pay that amount - but each to their own, as long they're happy & enjoying it, then crack on.

Now I've said that, in three years time we'll probably have the £35K for a CBX-6 thread... biglaugh

Yes, the SP-1 in particular seems to be one of those bikes that's just too track-orientated to be a pleasure on the road so you've got machines that have 300 or 400 miles a year on them. An object more suited to your living room.
