I think it looks really good, if the weight is correct it'll be very fun to ride.
The only thing I'd maybe want on a V2S would be the fancier Brembo Stylema or Hypure, although it is a Brembo cylinder.
Sounds like the streetfighter version will be well worth a look.

It's spot on for the intended market I think.
Losing the desmo valve train makes sense for a lower revving mill and extends the service intervals significantly.
As long as the bikes it goes into are appropriately priced I think it'll be a good package with plenty of room above for halo models people can move up to

Agreed. Higher clipons and repositioned pegs suggest a more road focussed bike, more accessible power, less weight and pricing that's within manmaths of an R9. Competitive product IMO.Losing the desmo valve train makes sense for a lower revving mill and extends the service intervals significantly.

It's a no from me.. as someone who is in the market for a v2 as an additional bike the lower power now on offer doesn't position itself well in my garage as it would be less powerful than my commuter. I can see why the higher service intervals will appeal and the lighter weight probably makes it a fun steer but I think I'd feel short changed opting for this over the previous model. 150hp I think is a nice sweet spot for the road; I certainly don't need the 200+ of a V4. I actually like the look of the new models too which is a shame.
Ducati know their customers well so I suspect I'm a statistal anomaly from any research they've done.

I've been thinking that the SuperSport would be a good choice for me when I decide to change bike. But now I'm not sure if it will remain in the line-up. So the new Panigale V2 could be another option as it looks a bit less extreme riding position than the outgoing model. However I've just been on the configurator and unlike the SS it doesn't have a lowered suspension option. Do you think this could be added in the future? Or could the SS be updated for 2025?

17kg weight loss seems like a lot. 118 bhp is still 20 more than my old 748 (in a lighter bike). Worth a test ride next year
I was reading about all the avoir dupois they've pulled out of it with the new engine and swingarm and the wet weight of the bike is 179kg, which is pretty good but for context the 1098R dry weight was 165kg. Anyway, this bike is what the recent supersport model should have been.rodericb said:

Its a no from me as well. It should not have the panigale name.I am pondering one as a replacement in a year or two to for my SS950.
Aesthetically I did like the more lean and minimalist look of the old panigale with the hidden exhaust and single sided swingarm, so not quite sure about the new exhaust system although I can see it looks like the optional racing zorst on the previous model. This with the double sided swingarm makes it look more "bulky" and fussy to me eyes.
A case of needing to see one in the flesh I guess.
As an aside, I think the SS950 is an underrated bike, it is easy to ride, handles well and is comfortable, and also looks v.good IMHO. Perhaps Ducati pitching it as a sports tourer and pricing it too close to the Panigale v2 meant it was seen as neither fish nor fowl, hence it did not sell as well as hoped. I first saw one in Bologna back in 2017 and thought it looked the dogs back then, I eventually got mine in 2022
Read on internet that other models will be getting this engine as well looks like Ducati are all in on this . Perhaps theyre keeping desmo engines for the halo bikes still seems a strange decision to market this as the new V2 though instead of a direct replacement for the supersport , maybe theres more in the pipeline .
As a product is lovely, but as a replacement of the panigale v2 I don't see the connection. I wouldn't upgrade to it from my 899 or see it as a replacement for sure. As others said 150hp is a sweet spot for the range. Bragging rights but still accessible to a broad market. Could it be emissions requirements that force their hand?
I had chance to sit on one yesterday at the NEC bike show, and also had a look around the new V2 Streetfighter based on the same platform. Its definitely a bit more road orientated than the old V2, and I am not 100% convinced to be honest especially at that price (£17k for the S). I have ridden the old V2 on the road and I think it was a damned good sports bike. The guy on the Ducati stand did mention that he doesn't expect the Supersport to remain in the lineup with the new V2 being released.
I also saw the new KTM RC, but only from behind a roped off area so no chance to sit on, but it looked a lot more aggressive and dare I say exotic than the new V2, so it would be interesting to compare them from a riding point of view.

The RC 8C? That's £40k so it better be pretty specialKrikkit said:
