...because I was genuinely, genuinely excited to get to 316.1 miles before the fuel light came on on the Africa Twin today. The bike reckoned it could cover another 62 miles, but I trust that about as much as I trust a Donald Trump promise. Exciting!

This is the kind of sh*t I think about on a Friday night now.

Not sure tedious is the right word, maybe risk averse?

This was a time to step up, take one for the team, push your luck and confirm if there really was 62 miles left smile

Steady on, chap. That's enough to make a man drop his chicken korma.

I'm going to assume you have the Adventure Sport with the bigger tank? It's a bit of an event when mine doesn't start spluttering before 230 miles!

Indeed. 24.8 litres, I believe.

That's impressive.

I have a bit of an MPG-semi now.

I would have to know, with a gallon of fuel in the top box obviously, you do have a top box don't you? come back and let us know.

I like to think of myself as a bit of a people pleaser. Play your cards right and I might tell you about the notable difference between unleaded and super unleaded.

I've not yet reached the stage in life where I can look at a top box and think, "Yes, that's a bit of me."

I'm intrigued by a notable difference.

My own experience is that there has always been a difference however only ever negligible rather than notable.

Probably my most noticeable difference on super is actually car-based; my 2001 Mercedes CLK 320 convertible averages 29.3 mpg on super, 28.6 on standard E10 and 26.5 on LPG (only 83.9p per litre locally).

Performance-wise, the super definitely gives the best running characteristics and WOT performance.

On bikes. I don't really notice/care/pay attention.
