I've got a Multistrada that I really like, but I'm getting the itch to add another bike before I'm too old. I love the look of the Panagale so I'm thinking about a V2.

Apparently I can only use my no claims on one bike, so the new bike would be starting fresh. I'm getting quotes of over £1,300 for a bike valued at £13,000. I'm 53 and live in Surrey, no points and no fault accidents, so not what I would consider a high risk.

Is there any insurer that mirrors NCD that would be worth trying?

I found the best way was to call either companies or brokers (rather than online)

It was easy to find companies who would mirror my no claims and it was then cheaper than the multi-bike policies

I was with Devitt and temporarily held 2 bikes after I bought a new one. That was for about 5 months until disposed of the old bike in Spring.

Devitt handled it all pretty reasonably from a process and cost point of view. My single bike policy turned into a multi-bike one for a while... I vaguely remember it bumped my original policy (~£300) by maybe £130. I did have the old bike on a very low stated mileage though - since I didn't really intent to use it much

I found BeMoto good for multi bike policies.

Carole Nash do multi bike policies, they are also very competitive and always contactable

I got a letter the other day from Carol Nash: they are offering car & bike cover on a single policy. Renewal dates don't marry up, so not sure if it's worth exploring further, but just wondering if anyone has experience with combined car/bike policies?

Principle insurance is who I used and tbh for the last 7 or 8 years I've not really shopped elsewhere. I'm getting 6 bikes covered for about a £100 a bike, through multi-bike policies and mirror NCB. I do realise insurance depends on a million variants so it might not work for you.

Bemoto
Devitt
Bennetts
Carole nash
Footman James

All worth a call imho. I move mine a bit depending on who wants the business the most and spread bikes between them. You’ll probably find you need to move from one to the other every couple of years to keep them honest.

Some underwriters have a preference or different appetite for different bikes. I tend to have the low value stuff with one and higher value with another etc.

I'm currently with Bennetts for my multibike policy covering two bikes, multibike has significantly cheaper than separate policies for me.
Whenever I've looked at car and bike policies it's never worked out, either the prices were to high or they only covered a car and one bike.

When I added my second bike, which was also going to have an additional named rider, I looked at multi-bike policies but was surprised to find that, even with no no-claims discount on the second policy, two polices were still cheaper than a single multi-bike policy. My advice is to shop around.

I feel your pain on this because motor insurers really aren't geared up for flexibility and anything that's not standard.

I have three modern motorbikes two modern cars two classic cars and a vintage car. It was proving impossible to keep track of all the insurance policies that I was trying to run.

So I thought I know I'll get some kind of fleet policy and get all the vehicles on one policy. Even if I have to pay over the odds I thought it was worth it having just one policy with one renewal date and a single payment.

My scenario was further complicated by the fact that my wife and I needed to be able to ride or drive all of the vehicles. Plus some of my kids also needed to be able to ride or drive some of the vehicles occasionally.

In the end someone introduced me to a fantastic broker specialising in this sort of thing. The flexibility has been brilliant and you have a named contact that you can call at anytime to make changes so I've been able to add in or remove vehicles without a problem and it also includes European breakdown cover.

I currently have three bikes on one policy with Bennets, probably going to add another couple on at some stage as they allow up to six.

The big people, Bennets, Devitt, Carole Nash etc tend to be least hassle with this kind of thing as they are most geared up for it however, as had been said, two separate polices for two different bikes can sometimes work out cheaper.

Multibike policies come into their own sweet-spot when you have an addiction to buying bikes on a whim.

I've been with Bemoto for a few years now... bike fleet ranging from 4 to 11...

They have been "ok"... never had to use them to be honest for anything serious, so can't comment on that.

Every year they increase the price, I phone to complain, they lower the price..

What I can say is that the free RAC cover is worth what you pay for it... they are a utter disgrace and have left me and many others stranded in Europe when the worst happens.
