Anyone going?

I'm going to drool over some 60's/70's/80's stuff.

Anything newer (generally) doesn't interest me

A great day out though, whatever floats your boat.

I might go have a look. I need a few bits for the Norton, so I might have a mooch.

I was looking at the Bonhams catalogue for it the other day, there's some cool (expensive!) stuff in there too.

Should place bets on what will make the most money out of the 1939 supercharged BMW GP bike or the Series A Vincent twin. Both estimated at about £250,000 yikes

Possibly the same Rapide sold for £229k in April. I don’t know what the fees are but if it goes for £250k they won’t be up in overall terms.

It’s a brave person splashing big on classic bikes at the moment.

Why would they be brave?

Yeah. Stupid would be a better word.

Not sure I follow. You can buy stupidly but the claims all old vehicles are cheap now and losing money is balls. Good stuff is still making very, very good money.

Used to attend one or other of the Stafford shows every year. Seem to remember you could wander round the outside jumble for free which was nice.

Time flies as you get older and the shows seemed to come round more quickly and became a bit samey. Not been for a while though so might pop along.

You have more fun dreaming about what you might buy than you do having bought.

Just a quick bump to say the show is on tomorrow and Sunday.....£20 on the door,

It's a great day out, if you are into classic stuff.

I went to the show many times from the mid 90's until about 10 years ago by when it had greatly outgrown the venue, and ive never bothered going back since.
I found it no fun having to drive along in the tailbacks slower than walking pace for the last couple of miles to the venue and even less fun having to queue for just as long to get through the entrance gate.
Once inside i found it was just getting more and more uncomfortably overcrowded each year, and as mentioned in an earlier post its just the same stuff on display year after year.

I get and appreciate what you are saying, but surely it's good that the show is proving to be so popular year after year,

Better that, than the fate of the kit car shows I used to go to in the 1980's, which have all but died out, or are a shadow of the glory days.

I've never queued more than fifteen minutes to go in, and I have been going since the early 80's on and off,

I'll let you know how I get on on Sunday smile

Wasnt the show originally held at a venue in Manchester which it outgrew then moved to Stafford?
Ithink they should have moved it to the nec many years ago
The last time i went there was the april show and i managed to get to the farmers field cum car park around opening time but the queue to get through the turnstiles took best part of an hour in the p*****g rain which did it for me and inside it just got so overcrowded later in the day that i couldnt help wonder what would happen if the place had to be evacuated quickly in the event of a fire

Just back. Really enjoyed it. Queues were minimal, both driving in and buying tickets and though there were a ton of cars it didn't seem as crowded as i remember inside the halls.

The highlight? The interviews outside with Fogarty and Chili. Foggy's mellowed and Frankie was as charming as ever. Great to hear one of Foggy's Ducatis fired up, just a pity Frankie's machine didn't want to play ball.

The crappy weather early on might have put some off but the sun came out around lunchtime and it was pleasant enough. Forecast tomorrow's more promising so if you're undecided, I'd say go for it and see Foggy and Frankie if you can.

Race & Retro have a look at some of the bikes in the Bonham's auction. Don't know why these guys don't have more subscribers.

If it’s the same one their bravery paid off hehe

Overall prices seemed pretty high to me on all but the more common stuff.

Looks like you had fun! I didn’t go in the end as we got back from holiday last weekend and I’ve done enough driving for a while and it’s 3 hours from here!

That Dommie’s how mine should look I think. Got the same tank on mine although mine’s just painted.

Think I’ll head to the April one as I think I’ll have a long list of needed bits for the Norton then thumbup
