Forgot what it was like before pinlocks.

Had pinlocks on my last few helmets, and they just just quietly do their job, unnoticed, never ever letting even a drop of condensation appear.
Just bought a schuberth as my tinnitus is getting worse and they are supposed to be super quiet, but this one never came with one.
Yes it was damp today but bloody hell it was annoying, open close open close, st i cant see a thing. Constantly steamed up.
How are these not standard across the board, what an incredible product. How did we manage before them?

Unless they’ve changed something recently I would have thought your Schuberth would have come with a pinlock?

Agree. I've got a Shark flip helmet that can't take a pinlock due to the lack of clearance in the flip design. I avoid wearing it if it's wet because it just fogs up instantly, more so at town speeds. Other helmet with a pinlock is always perfect.

Didn't realise the Pinlock lenses come with differing condensation resistance until recently purchasing one for a helmet that didn't come with one supplied.

I end up flipping the visor at long traffic light stops because, although the pinlock stops my visor steaming up, my glasses do steam up.

I must be in the minority but have never been that impressed by pinlock, I have still found my helmets steaming up unless I keep the visor adjar at slower speeds.

You're not, I have the same problem. It seams up from the bottom working it's way up.

I started wearing glasses for driving/riding about six years ago and for the bike, living in Lancashire where it’s mostly wet, they’ve been a nightmare; constantly fogging. My mileage dropped significantly as I just couldn’t be bothered. I started using contact lenses this year and what a game changer - the simple freedom of being able to just put my helmet on and ride off.

You're not, I have the same problem. It seams up from the bottom working it's way up.

You need to check its fitted properly. If it’s steaming up from the bottom then there’s probably a tiny gap somewhere.

I check mine with a piece of paper with a sharp corner (tear the corner off a piece of A4 printer paper) then go all around the edge just gently pushing the corner at the Pinlock seal to see if it will go in anywhere. You can adjust the fit with the two eccentric pins either side.

I've yet to install a pinlock on my current Scorpion helmet but I did previously have a Bell helmet that had a fog proof visor and it was exceptional. Even in wet conditions with the visor down, no steaming up. The worst it got was a wavy bit at the bottom centre but that cleared up in seconds if you were bothered about it.

Changing tack slightly, I too am developing Tinitus (last couple of years) which I'm sure is due to motorcycling although I haven't ridden without earplugs for c20 years. How is the new helmet noise-wise? I currently us a Shoei GT Air 2 which I think is a great helmet, but still a bit noisey

I have always worn glasses as I never got on with contacts.

After yesterday I may have to give them another go. I had to stop as I simply couldn't see at one point - if the pinlock wasn't causing me issues then the glasses were.

my arai rx7 evo came with a pin lock, wouldn’t be without it, does the same job as my double screened visors I use with my arai for motorsport.

Before those two inventions came about I tried pretty much every spray on product going and none performed anywhere near close to them.

I've never used the pinlocks that came with my helmets, never had them steam up at all, don't know why.

I tend to ride with my visor up below 30 when it's raining.

Does feel like the tech is way behind. Surely a heated visor could have been invented by now.

I’ve always been very squeamish about touching my eyes so wouldn’t even consider the idea, but finally, aged 56 I’ve bit the bullet. Initially it was really difficult and getting them out could take me an hour, but it’s all about technique and after about 15 pairs I’m just plop-plop and they’re in and slurp-slurp and they’re out.

I’d forgotten just how liberating it was to be able to just hop on the bike, stick my helmet on and ride off. No more pissing about getting the glasses on (or forgetting and having left them in the house), no more holding your breath to stop the bds fogging up etc

Definitely lighter and noticeably quieter than my frank thomas modular but not done any long rides yet. I will report back once my pinlock arrives
Following up from this, between the schuberth c3 and decibullz earbuds just done a 430 mile ride at very noisy speeds and no ringing in my ears, would definitely have been a problem in my old helmet.

Does anyone know if there are pinlock inserts for all visors?

I have been using a Bell RS 1 for many years and this had 2 little lugs on the visor to help fit the pinlock, I have just bought a new Bell Qualifier DLX Mips and realised it does not have these little lugs. Anyone know if I can get a pinlock to fit as google does not seem to provide an answer?
