New to me bike day
Discussion
Rather than buy a new Tuono I picked up a K6 GSXR 1000 instead. Much as I love the Tuono I was miffed at the idea of spending over a thousand on insurance. I only paid £240 for the Suzuki (yes not comprehensive)
I had my first proper ride this morning. What a lovely thing. It felt a lot like the GSXR 750s I used to have but with more low down thrust. It didn’t feel any less agile. I didn’t have a particularly long ride but it felt more comfortable (my right knee gives me trouble - old biking injury). I didn’t get numb fingers and I could see behind me as the wing mirrors worked properly.
It isn’t perfect and there are a few little things to address. I also need to avoid the temptation of making too many changes (otherwise it will negate the cost benefits of buying old).
I did want to have the electronic safety net (even though almost all my bikes in the past didn’t have it). On the other hand I do like the simplicity of it and that you have to be mindful of how much throttle you are using and that you can’t just grab a handful of brake.

Thread derail, sorry.
You said not comprehensive insurance? Any time I've done insurance quotes there's been very little difference.
Agreed. For most bikes I was looking at there wasn’t much difference. For new bikes it was often more expensive. Perhaps because it is older and worth less was the reason. Same insurer was offering £240 for 3rd party and £750 for fully comp. I’m not paying an extra £500 to insure a risk of £4k (which is what they would probably give me for the bike if written off). You said not comprehensive insurance?
