Back in the saddle... well almost
Discussion
Having sold my first bike (CBR600RR) and all of my gear nearly 10 years ago to help fund buying a house, I've got the itch again to get back on a bike.
A friend offered me a shot on his Indian Sport Chief, and getting a bit carried away with the anticipation of getting my own bike soon, I ended up buying all new kit!
I got temporary insurance so could spend some time on the road again, so with a 4 hour round trip on Monday to Triumph Stratford, I was able to take a Bobber and new Rocket 3R Storm out for a test ride. We went in a group (my friend on his other bike, his son on a 125 Keeway and me on his Indian) and with the comms it made for a cracking day out - even if I was knackered by the time I got home!
Prior to the test ride I had my heart set on the Rocket, and my head was with the Bobber. After the test ride it was exactly the same! Both really impressive and well made bikes - I found the Bobber very chuckable and light, whilst still having plenty of torque. The Rocket however felt in a different league. Manhandling it in a car park was awkward (no more than the Indian to be fair), but it really belies it's weight once moving and that torque was phenomenal.
I'm waiting for a call back from the dealer to see what to do, so will update once I have a bike I can see this becoming an expensive hobby...

4.30 and we’ve not had pictures on a collection day thread………is that the ban hammer I hear?
Excuse the awful pictures - as soon as I got home I had to jump onto a Teams meeting and now it's hammering down with rain! I really should have cleared more space in the garage (loft conversion going on), but the bike spec was just what I was after so just went for it!
The bike is a 2021 Black Edition with shift assist, heated grips and optimate charger. Also came with an extended warranty 820 miles on the clock so still bedding in a bit.
Had a bit of a journey back - whilst the weather was dry, the wind was really gusting and blowing artics/caravans about everywhere. It has the GT screen on which I wanted to remove (prefer the look without it), but on a sustained journey like today (2.5 hours) I think it's probably quite beneficial on the motorway.
Needed some more jungle juice so stopped at the M6 toll services and pleased that by tucking my card in the back of my right glove meant I could still use contactless for the barrier!
Once off the motorways and on to the country lanes, the Rocket came into it's own as the torque is immense! The way it loses it's weight is amazing - you only remember when you come to move it on the drive.
Being honest I'm be taking it easy for a while. I'll aim to get a bit more road time then look to book Rapid training or Bikesafe

It took me a while to get the plate. It's interesting you're reconsidering the screen.
The guy selling it left the cherished plate on - whilst they're not usually my thing, I think I'll leave this one on as it's fairly inoffensive. I haven't properly looked yet, but it seems the screen just screws over the top of the 'R' one, so I'll give it a try without and see what looks best/blows my head off
