My biking history has been a bit random - my dad was a traffic policeman forever because when he was 18 they would pay him to ride bikes.......so bikes were always around when I was a kid.

I passed my test when I was 27, basically the first time I could afford it, bought a 650 versys and had it for a few years, then a 796 hypermotard that got nicked - most recently I had a BMW G650 GS that I bought because it was cheap, sipped fuel, I fitted (I'm 6'6) and I had to do a horrible commute across London. I sold it about 7 years ago when I didn't do the commute anymore and have been without a bike for a few years.

Last year we finally bought a house with a garage big enough for toys, so seemed rude not to get another bike.

As mentioned I'm very tall so I don't fit on a lot of stuff - or if I do fit I look like I'm riding a childs bike. Initialy was going to get one of the last of the line R1250GSA as you can get some good deals - but after riding it was just too wide - I felt like I may as well take the car.

I rode a few nearly new 850 GS but wasn't a huge fan, and the Tiger 900 rally pro. Ended up with a great deal on a pre-reg 900GS with 5 miles on the clock. It's black which is a little dull, but I don't like the yellow or the red / white / blue particularly. it's a world different from anything I've had before, traction control, cornering ABS, riding modes, quick shifter, cruise, keyless (the answer to a question no one asked surely)

Plan is keep it for a couple of years, some trips, some commuting, get back into riding and hope the need to change doesn't happen too fast (I already want a desert x with the additional tanks!!)

That is a nice bike. I never considered one as you need to be tall to use it. But if you are tall, nice bike smile

These are cracking bikes - I went on a launch of them in March and was following Si Pavey on a pretty fast road ride and we were all impressed with how the OEM tyres held on. We then did a couple of hours off-roading and it felt like cheating for a novice like me - Enduro Pro mode lets even a complete idiot (me) do some gentle skids and drifts.

Congrats, the videos from the launch really made this look like a fantastic bike! And better than the bigger GS too.
