Hi, I am going to the Moto Gp this weekend at Silverstone 😃 On Friday I’ll be riding to the circuit with a mate.
What options are there if any for storing bike gear/ helmet etc? Are there any lockers available?
I’ve tried looking for an answer online , only lockers available seem to be for the campsite.
I guess it’s a case of either carrying my gear or leave it with the bike…
What do most people do ?

Never been to silverstone but I have been to BSB events on my bike and what I have done is put some sort of waterpoof bag inside my backpack then I will take it out and stick my helmet and gloves etc inside and leave it tucked in next to my bike out the way. Then I have my backpack with me for the inevitable tat that I end up buying. Never had any issues with stuff being stolen.

There is quite likely to be a truck full of lockers or somewhere to check in specific items for a fee each - £5ish helmet etc.

Wherever I go I usually just put my helmet down by the side of the bike sort of under the engine with the jacket stuffed over the top of it.

I have always worked on the basis that it would be a very desperate thief that has any use for my sweat and skin ridden helmet or even my sweaty jacket that probably wouldn't fit him anyway.

To be clear I do own fairly high quality expensive gear but I just don't think anybody that goes to a motorbike meet is thinking about stealing a helmet or a jacket.

Obviously I do leave myself open to coming back to the bike one day and having no helmet to ride home in but it's worked for me so far.

I always thought a lightweight bike chain, perhaps one of those sort of coil up stretchy affairs kept under the seat, would be a good idea for securing helmet (through visor) and jacket (through a sleeve) to the bike. It's odd someone would want to take those things full stop but I'll bet it happens and a small chain should stop the chancers from just trying to pick it up and walk off.

My choice - just a cheap bicycle cable lock.

When the wife and I go to events locally (like BSB) I stick three boxes on, perhaps have a change of footwear, and take a rucksack with a packed lunch. Lids, boots and perhaps a jacket go in the boxes. If the weather is okay I'll wear jeans.

Another choice for bundled gear would be a Pacsafe net - won't stop the really determined thief but a casual pilferer

One of these:

And one of these:

Get along enough wire and thread it down the arm of your jacket to secure that too.
Served me well so far

Yep, that's what I used to do as well, helmet and jacket on ground under bike, and locked together to bike with a long cable lock.

I once went on a track day and someone stole my tail pack including my driving licence. Several weeks later my licence turned up in the post - so a thief (or associate) with a conscience ..... sort of.

I lock them to my bike with a £15 15mm x3m steel cable from screwfix

Can thread it through the legs / arms of clothing etc

Yes it can be cut but it's a lot of hassle compared to most others - I saw various gear dumped on bikes at shows - not everyone is nice, particularly when you've left a £500+ helmet / jacket lying about

Never mind insurance etc you've got to get home

I've used a long cable lock through the arms, legs and helmet and then round the bars or steering head. That keeps everything off the ground and makes the bike difficult to push away.
Lids & gear on the ground is at risk of getting pissed on by a passing dog.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/PacSafe-Secure-Protector-... . . . . .

I use one of these (but I also do a bit of touring) for all my clothes/boots/tank bag . . . and a combination lock wire thingy for helmet

There’s busses parked up inside to leave your kit at, for a small fee like old double deckers they were last year!

It’s gunna be hot, just ride in shorts and t shirt, and don’t crash. biggrin

Pacsafe would be my choice if I didn't have boxes.
