6 dead after Focus and motorbike collided. I’m horrified that the car collapsed like that; you’d expect the riders to come off badly but less so the car occupants. Looks like a fire too.

One of them was travelling at some speed to inflict that much damage to the car and subesquent fire.

Mk.2 Focus so a reasonably modern car, the way the chassis leg has folded up there was a lot of energy there. I assume the bike has basically disintegrated, come through the windscreen and the whole caboodle has burst into flames.

Utterly awful beyond words.

Just seen this on-line, pretty horrific for all concerned. As said there must have been some speed involved, sure there will be a in depth investigation by the police but it looks to be a pretty straight piece of road? Who knows, thoughts are with all the families involved.

I saw the headline on a news page and couldn’t work out how 4 of the car passengers had died - until I saw that the car caught fire.

My son was a rear seat passenger in a car about 20 years ago which crashed and caught fire. By sheer fate/luck, he had sat behind the driver and the seat belt didn’t work, so, whilst he took a bang on the head, someone was able to drag him out of the car, alive but on fire, and save him. Two of the other occupants died that day, including my son’s best mate. It was the car driver’s fault, he survived but was confined to a wheelchair. Inquest was horrific.

Looking at the photo on the link it looks like a straight road, were there any witnesses as I would suggest an overtake but unless there's something else it should have been a non-event.

There are some more pictures on the Daily Mail website, but for the car to end up like that there has been some amount of energy in the collision, hate to think how fast the bike was going.

Very sad for all involved, 4 members of 1 family and the 2 on the bike all no longer here.

Utterly horrible and looks to be senseless looking at the road

Looks like the offside front took the impact which would suggest the bike was in that lane. That was some closing speed though.

From the pictures in the media, it's very hard to know who was in who's lane at the moment of impact. Though I agree at least one of them was travelling at a hell of a speed for an impact with a bike to do that much damage to a modern car. Hopefully the investigation will shed some light on how it came to happen - not that it will bring anyone back.

I have two girls the same sort of age as the one who survived and has been left orphaned, brings home the devastation even more.

If both vehicles were traveling at say 60mph, combined impact speed of 120mph, even an average 200Kg motorbike with two people - say combined weight 350 Kg, is going to destroy anything it hits.

I mentioned the existence of this pic on the other thread.

A bike at speed is a large metal missile in a head on or side on frown

Any news on the poor girl that survived? Was she in the car too?

Just so awful for her and all the families involved as well as the first responders.

Yea local too, local socials reporting the bike was on the wrong side of the road and the car was seemingly in convoy with other family members. Truly tragic
