My least favourite time of the year...

Any recommendations on where to go? Confused etc are coming back with Wicked Quotes for around £545 but an excess of £750 compulsory...

I've never heard of them and the excess puts me off massively.

BMW are a bit more expensive at £650 but I've heard of them!

Bennett, Carol Nash either won't quote or are £1,500.

Bike is a 2012 BMW 1200GS. Sadly kept on the road.

Any other places to try before I sell my feet photos?

There really isn't any benefit to asking literally anyone else....

You just need to call round or search online.

Other people's prices are 10000% irrelevant to your circumstances.

In the past I've used a number of different price comparison sites and have been surprised that the same policy from the same company will have noticeably different prices. That said, the MCN site is often the cheapest.

Do shop around. An hour spent shopping around can save quite a lot of money.

Don't forget to use duck duck go or a icgnito tab, that way no cookies are loaded onto the device so they can't adjust prices upwards

Those quotes sound nuts for a 12 year old GS, even if it's kept on the road.

Is it London and are you very young smile

34, licence for 11 years only two years no claims sadly. Advanced rider through work and one of the safest post codes.

Keeping a bike outside is the pits, sadly. I did it for six months just after passing my test, with a 15 plate MT-09 Tracer and the insurance firms pulled my pants down.

I don't have anything of value to add, sorry laugh

I've got an '09 R1200GSA, currently paying £70 a year, though I'm a bit older (58) and it's garaged.

Just ran a check and on street puts it up to £110.

I generally use https://www.thebikeinsurer.co.uk/ for quotes and am currently with Swinton.

And do you clip the nails straight across or follow the curve of the toe?

I just tried to get insurance on the CBR600. Riding for nearly 30 years. No accidents or claims. Clean licence. Only social and domestic. Bike garaged in my house. Not in London. Rospa Gold. But because I’ve just moved back to the UK, no NCB. £2k! From someone that would even give a quote. WTAF.

The joke is that I thought a 600 would be easier to insurance than the litre superbike (Tuono Factory) I was riding in NZ (at around £300 a year).

My first bike was a ZX6R so exact equivalent. I didn’t even have a bike licence when I put down the deposit! So no experience and no NCB. Think I paid £200 (was a special deal with Kawasaki).

My biking days might be behind me.

Bikesure have always been pretty good, they'll talk to the underwriters and do what they can.

Unfortunately any bike on the road in London comes with significant risk it won't be there one morning!

NFU won't insure a bike over 1000cc. Despite my GS going a lot slower than my GSXR I had ha.

Think I'll end up going with BMW. Not thst much more and the cover seems fairly decent. Got a bit longer to decide though b
