In my 'race van' I have to load bikes in backwards as I have a bed above them

I winch them in and currently I use two straps, one pulling forwards, one pulling backwards, both pulling towards the side of the van

Whilst it works, I have to get to the van side of the bike, which I won't be able to do once I've put the bulkhead in place, with a central door

I was thinking of fitting the simple U type bike chock for the back wheel (there's no spare height for the better type) then I can strap from the front both pulling backwards into the chock

I carry different sized bikes so I presume I'd have to be able to move it backwards / forwards

I was thinking of putting some bolts beneath the ply, sticking up and then welding some strips onto the chock with holes in

Is there a better option ?

I fitted Unwin rails in my van and mounted a chock to some seat mounting points. I can set the chock up where needed to fit the track bike or the Africa Twin in there.

My initial plan was to be able to strap the bike to the chock with it near the back, then push it into the van before locking it in place, but it does not slide well when loaded...

Do you need 2 rails for a chock or would one be adequate ?

I could just use a single loop point and strap it through the rear wheel - although it wouldn't be a quick

Thanks Alex having googled around your idea, I found this picture

Which made me realize I could put them in backwards and have a removable chock at the front !

A bit more googling and I found these cheap as chips with a quick release fitting too (not pictured)
