Bike Insurance
Discussion
Renewal quote for the bike dropped through the letter box a few days ago. Up £200 from last year. Called them up for a moan and see what they can do, it's saved me money doing this before, they quote me even higher again! Will you be renewing sir, eh no I don't think I will.
Details fired into a few comparison sites.........£500 less than last year and £700 less than the renewal. Happy days.
Now to start looking for a 2nd bike.............

I just called up Hastings as I’ve fitted a Nitron shock. £2.40 for increase in premium. £20 admin fee! Wouldn’t let me do it on the app.
Hastings are arch for an admin fee. I went from no garage to concrete garage expecting a little refund and they hit me with the admin fee.
In my case the admin was 20% of the entire annual premium which seemed salty af.

Sorted my renewal out with Hastings this morning.
Renewal was £244 (up £40 from last year). Rang them to cancel the auto renewal, won’t let you do it through the site, sneaky!
Suddenly they can do exact same policy for £167. Worth the call after all.
I'm 99% certain they aren't allowed to do that any more, i.e make a new policy holder premium cheaper than staying. Probs got workarounds for it thoughRenewal was £244 (up £40 from last year). Rang them to cancel the auto renewal, won’t let you do it through the site, sneaky!

I didn’t think so either but we all know what they should do and what they do are usually very different things! Suppose could argue I did make a change, I asked them to lower my excess from last year but logic would say that should increase the price
To an extent yes. But didn’t think I would be modifying the bike. I knew Bennett’s would be better for that, but this policy had everything that Bennett’s wanted to charge for.
My issue was clearly not the increase in premium. But the admin fee for talking to someone who didn’t know part of their job. As that sort of change should be able to be done through the app.
It will be a bike specific insurer for me on renewal.
