Having watched WSBK and MotoGP races there on tv, it seems flat and has mostly mickey mouse corners.

Perhaps it only gets on the calendar due to its proximity to Bologna?

I've been to the Moto GP in 2008 and 2010 , I have no idea the name of the section I watched from but it seemed okay to me ,especially when surrounded by the partisan Italians .

I've also been to a truck GP there too ,it was wet , very wet at times and not as good as it should have been.

The traffic jam to get out isn't as bad as Mugello either .

It was better when they went in the opposite direction, but there was no proper run off for the fastest corner.

A circuit gets on the calendar if it can pay the sanctioning fee (i.e. if they can sell enough tickets to cover it), it's safe, and there's space on the calendar. Misano ticks all these boxes. The local government give support as it's traditionally run the weekend after the Italian schools go back, so it extends the holiday season a bit for all the resorts along the coast.

I've been when Ducati were doing nothing and Rossi was being bested heavily by Marquez and Lorenzo. It was still full. Atmosphere was good and a lot more family friendly than Mugello. Tickets aren't expensive, views are decent, and it's easy to get to.

It's not the most dramatic racetrack ever, and yes, the fact it's only about 90 minutes from Bologna probably doesn't do it any harm, but there's places we should drop before it. In some ways it's a bit like Le Mans, as a lot of it is tight and technical but then there are some bits that are really, really fast.

Good point re. Le Mans, though if I were given a choice of the two, then by a narrow margin I think I'd pick Le Mans as I seem to remember more interesting races there.

That is in part because it's also usually wet at some point at Le Mans!
