So myself and two mates are thinking of going to wales at the end of July, Friday to Monday, for a bit of a riding weekend away.

Can anyone recommend any routes/roads etc that are worth doing along with places to stay?

Any help is much appreciated 👍🏻

Pick up the a44 as soon as you can for the journey in. Then a470 from the middle bit to the north.

There are loads of options but you’ll need to watch your speed pretty much everywhere.

Ty morgans in Rhayader are biker friendly and makes a good base. Lots of good roads.

We are pretty sensible, but are we talking cameras or police?

On the other hand, I've spent quite a few days riding in mid and North Wales in the last few years, and not hanging about when it was safe to do so. Don't recall seeing any unexpected cameras, or police. I guess if you're hammering around with a gang of people on noisy sportsbikes in a popular area you're more likely to get some attention, but be discreet and it'll be fine...

Yes, I'd watch it in a group.

Last time I got pulled over was in Wales with a bunch of cars.

If you’re staying here head to the Elan Valley it’s stunning

And a bit further south is the mountain road between Abergwesyn and Tregaron, and the road past Llyn Brianne to Llandovery, at which point you're almost at the (sadly now 40mph and average speed cameras) Black Mountain Road. Great scenery, but some of the roads may not be so much fun on a sportsbike?
