I rode to Beachy Head via Eastbourne seafront yesterday. Bloke on a 20 year old R6 with very loud pipe filtered past me & then tried to take a highway maintenance truck that looked lost & was weaving about a bit. R6 man starts revving & hooting - he gave it the full coffee bean shake whilst passing & truck driver started swearing at him. I thought they were going to come to blows, but R6 sped off - full throttle must have hit at least 60 in a 30 limit with people all around trying to cross the road to the beach.
Why do people get so worked up? Hot day in a seaside town is obviously going to be a slow ride through....

It's people like that who give us bikers a bad name.

I posted about a knob on the M42 last week doing the same thing, shouting and gesturing at anybody who didn't part the Red Sea for him.
Thought it was a one off, and maybe he had a bad day but nope saw him again today.

Thought that was gonna be me, but I don't use the 42 that often!

TBH I rarely get that bothered these days. I suspect coffee beans and horn etc. have about as much effect on drivers as their high beam silliness when we overtake or filter...

I've calmed down completely since having kids. If someone intentionally blocks me I'll give them an earful but I don't expect them to move for me.
It does make me laugh when I overtake someone and they flash their high beams though. Like that's going to stop me.

I generally won't react unless someone has been EXTREMELY dangerous towards me.

The above scenario you mentioned is a prime candidate for the UKMOTOCLIPS style of video on YouTube. Stevie Wonder could see a lot of the issues that are due to happen but the cammers just drive/ride AT the danger to get views.

The whole overreaction thing drives me to distraction on those youtube clips. This weekend I did about 300 miles and a car pulled out on me maybe 3 times (one was a bit daft and the other two a little ill advised biggrin )... I noticed it, anticipated it and slowed to allow for it. According to youtube morons what I should do is accelerate up to them and hard brake at last second whilst rev bombing them?

People make mistakes and life is too short.

Bloody Hell, exactly that. Where I've been laid up, I found myself watching all sorts of old crap on You tube... Some of these videos came up on my feed, all I could think was, "Couldn't you see that a mile off?", before realising that if they hadn't created a situation they'd have nothing to upload. It'll end in tears.

Unfortunately you get them in every sport, hobby and social event

I see bikers like this - I see a lot of drivers like this and just question to myself 'why'. Life's too short to get so angry that you potentially risk yourself or others to get that angry

Takes me a lot to lose my cool on the road. Last one I recall I tried to tell someone to use their indicators when doing an overtake as it could wipe a biker out only for her to say she did (I had my gopro on and she didnt) and for her have her bf as passenger to get his phone out and start recording me

That R6 rider hopefully will grow up a bit in time and experience

I really enjoy it when it's the car coming towards me that flashes and gestures... after I've completed the safe overtake... and I'm back in my lane.... and have been for the last 400 meters before they start to flash...

Great reactions there Angry Driver... hehe

I certainly hope so, & urgently!!
Those unfamiliar with Eastbourne sea front: 30mph limit, numerous zebra crossings, parking both sides of the road, lots of minor road side junctions, thousands of elderly people & of course families with kids.
One can only hope that R6 rider will calm down a bit before he hurts someone or worse.
Shame there wasn't a copper around....

I honestly believe they see themselves as the stereotypical big scary burly biker.
It's like when someone says "my mates are all bikers" as if that's some sort of threat.

A bit like me then! Although I am clean shaven.
I'm no angel, & particularly like the traffic light GP or doing a couple of laps of a really nice roundabout in this part of the world. I just don't get why people get so angry.

I think it's more to do with us getting older and being more sensitive/easily irritated whereas when we were younger we just didn't notice or care.
