Bikeshed Show????
Discussion
£31 to get into a venue. Then they want to charge top dollar for food and drink. All to view what were st bikes when they were new, now they are just old st bikes on knobblies with a short seat (brown normally) no tail piece, carbs with conical filters.
People call these “Designed” or “Specials”
I think they are mostly just st but then I don’t have brown boots, turn ups and a sculpted beard or moustache.
Rant over.

It wasn’t the best!!!!
Not as good as last year.
Seemed like there were way less bikes and a few were just brought in to fill spaces.
It’s the 3rd time I have been and it’s not evolved, it’s the same delivery every time.
Think I’ll leave it a few years until a go again.
Hopefully it will evolve a bit.

Which is precisely what I would have expected and the reason why I haven’t responded to a mate’s message earlier asking if anyone fancied it tomorrow. People call these “Designed” or “Specials”

I’m sure I’ve said this before, but many many years ago, the Bike Shed was a small group of fairly normal people who met in a pub once a month and talked about what sort of custom bike they were thinking of building. I know this because I was one of them. We all wore normal clothes and were clean-shaven back then A bit of sponsorship and a few corporate dollars later and it disappeared up its own custom-made tailpipe into the tats n turn-ups pastiche that it sadly became.

I went a long time ago and it was awful. I felt sorry for the food people who had paid to be there but most people walk around once and left. Lots of similarly looking cafe racers owned by similar looking men trying way too hard to be cool.
Nope and nope x 10000.
I've never been and have a bit of a personal issue with them calling everything that's been customised a "cafe racer" when that used to be a pretty specific thing, but I did see some photos from this year's event and there was some proper cafe racers.Nope and nope x 10000.
In particular a supercharged Triton, which looked immense.
I thought it was bloody excellent - yes there are some odd types walking about and certainly some posing but nothing more than your average bike cafe.
Some of the bikes were stunning - massively levels of detail
Basically every show gets moaned about - seems all people want is cheap gear and cheap tickets rather than anything that has required effort

went to one of the earlier ones and I think it was a tenner. They price seems to have gone up with the popularity.
I forgot it was on and just looked at a youtuber. A lot were rubbish ,fondling ducati nuts for a free key ring or something.
One guy did an ok one that gave you a look as some of the interesting bikes and barely mentioned the dreary ducati 'concepts'

Third year in a row for me and I think I'll give it a miss next year. Bit samey, but that's to be expected. There were plenty of bikes and the food and drink was only the same prices as most similar stuff in London and far better quality than other shows I've been to recently: NEC anyone? I left a bit earlier than normal on the Friday evening and stopped for a pint in an old West End haunt: £6.75 for a pint of London Pride!!
Certainly more poser tts on the Friday evening but that's like going to the zoo without the cruelty guilt for me. It formed part of a very enjoyable bikey weekend. Not sure what else I'd want from a bike show, tbh.
