Yes its me again...
Those of you who stalk my posts will know I do this once a year, but a bit of back story first.
Ive tried to avoid buying another big/mid sized bike for a year now, Ive tried to distract myself with a newer posher car (hasnt worked) ,a scooter (hasnt really worked but still fun), considered buying a Dutton Kit car ( looked like trouble or death) and so here we are.
I Sold all my bikes last year after a bit of ill health and not being 100% it was a good idea to ride.
But Im coming back round now and with a reasonably significant birthday at some point this year and a trip to Superbike factory whilst I was at BSB the addiction is coming back.
Ive got some possible bikes on mind that could start me off again, What do you think to these for summer time odd runabouts?
( Ive mentally vetoed my dream Fireblade as looking at the performance figures its too much for a road bike)
So
First up the just enough bikes.
Kawasaki Z300
Kawasaki Ninja 400
BMW G310r
The (to me) dream bikes
Suzuki GSXS750
Kawasaki zxr6 636 Ninja ( around 2011/2015)
Wont be buying till later this year

Which year blade? I have a 954 and whilst quick it’s not ohmygodimgoingtodie quick. I do prefer a torquey bike over power but then had a lot of fun on a cbr400 baby blade this past season.
How about a gsxr750? My mate has a k4 and my monster 1100 has the jump on it up to illegal speeds. 130bhp and a very light, characterful and sweet bike to ride.
I’d be thinking about why you have ‘gone off’ bikes in the past and ensuring that if those ‘fears’ aren’t addressed then at least get something that falls into the dream category. That way if you ‘go off’ bikes again then at least you know you have it your best shot with no lingering doubts.

I'll be honest, it's probably better to give us the type of bike you're after and the budget you have, along with any other restrictions.

The answer is diverse but I'd say buy the best GSX R750, they're one of the sweetest handling bikes out there plus you don't need ti be like Michael Flatley on the gearbox vs the 600:Those of you who stalk my posts will know I do this once a year, but a bit of back story first.

Way under budget, but Hornet 600. You'll get a low mileage fuel injected one under budget (a quick Google landed straight on a 2014 with 11k for £4,250 at a dealer). You never see an unreliable Hornet thread..... I'm biased (900 owner) but Hornets are one of those bikes that doesn't do anything amazing but does everything well, and gets accused of being boring because of that. Owners do hang on to them though, and also return years later, which says a lot of what you need to know. The only real downside is that I don't think there is a ABS option, but some of the initial list didn't have ABS so I assume that's not a deal breaker.5k

The speed 400 is a good shout, I saw one of these the other week and it mooned me with its beauty. I'd also fling into the ring, the KTM RC/Duke 390, you can pick a new one of these up for about £4.5k. I love my wee RC, like absolutely love the fking thing. I have a blade sat in the garage, I've not even bothered my arse to tax to put that in perspective for the OP.

You don't know it but you need a R1, a 2000/2001 or 2004/2006 vintage, really comfortable, handle well in all conditions, good on fuel, still look good. Another plus, they don't have the chavy image of a GSX-R or the Girly image of a Fireblade.
