Ello Ello. Long story short I was told I need more training on changing gears before I can ride out on the road safely for my first cbt.

Does anyone know an empty/abandoned/no security car park I can go to with someone so I can practice, knowing not a single soul will be in there will help ease the anxiety, as I don’t want to be a nuisance to anyone

Knowing what area you're in might find some fruitful results.

Be careful, too. You're not licenced to ride the vehicle so must do so on private ground. This is NOT a quiet industrial estate somewhere. This has to be closed off from the public to be legal. If the car park in question has public access, you still need a full complement of tax, insurance, MOT and licence to legally ride.

You might be better off taking a CBT on a moped and buying a geared bike afterwards to practice on.

As always I forget to write useful information 😂.
Surrey area would be ideal.
I have my own bike, it’s insured, has mot and tax. My partner is on the insurance and can ride it to locations for me (he has a full license). I’m doing my cbt on a 50cc ped tomorrow, has I just want to get the certificate, and practice with my partner somewhere

Good Luck with the CBT tomorrow.

Once you have the CBT, you can legally practice in a public place.
I would suggest anywhere quiet that's near home.
Don't commit to going miles to nail it in one session
A cul de sac on the nearest industrial estate maybe?
The key to these things is often breaking it down to a series of actions and working out which is the problem.
Have a go, analyse the problem, have another go.

Slyfield is quiet after 8pm. I taught my kids driving there.

xxxx Station can be used for slalom and figure of 8 practice, but then again I was friendly with the station manager and as long as I complimented her begonias, she tolerated me pootling around at quiet times. (That's not a euphemism btw!).

Edited to remove the name of the station.

When I was still working as a bike instructor (many moons ago), one of the other instructors took it upon himself to teach his son the basics of driving a car in a supermarket car park one evening.

Everything was going well apparently until the local plod turned up and asked what they were up to.

"Teaching my son how to drive."

"Very good Sir, can we just check your licenses and insurance please?"

"Oh he doesn't have his yet, he's only just applied for it."

Knowingly allowing an unlicensed driver to use his vehicle, knowingly allowing an uninsured driver to use his vehicle, knowingly allowing an underage driver to use his vehicle etc etc etc.

Great big fine, 11 points and only kept his license because without it he would have lost his job.

Tread very carefully if you are wanting to have a quick practise by yourself, it could lead to all sorts of complications.

Yeah, but if you're caught riding it on publicly accessible land without a licence/category, you'll be the one in a bit of bother.

Yeah, that station car park mentioned above is definitely publicly accessible land so don't go there.

Take your cbt on an auto. That’s what I did then went to collect my varadero 125cc with no idea on what I was doing and rode it 50 miles home.
