I had a top day out riding to the south coast. 3 hour trip in amazing 25c weather. I got home & drank rather too much wine & then attempted to clean the bike. Lost balance whilst manoeuvring bike & almost dropped it! Only damage is a scuff on the mirror from the garage wall. Any ideas on getting rid of scuffs? Dremmel? Heat gun? Filler? New mirror???
Yes, I was a tt....

Standard Kawasaki black plastic. In the cold light of day, its literally a couple of minor scratches, but rather unsightly!
Memo to self: DO NOT ATTEMPT BIKE MAINTENANCE UNDER THE INFLUENCE!!

Some fine filler (knifing stopper) and a quick spray with satin or matt black?

Yep - I'm old, decrepit & clearly can't handle my drink like I used to!

I'd leave it as a reminder that drink and bikes don't mix!!

Or buy a new mirror. You won't be happy until you do, because no matter what, it'll never look the same.

Then, put the old mirror somewhere prominent like on the beer fridge door! laugh

I feel your pain, working on your bike in any capacity after a skinful is a bad idea.

A couple of months ago we had a bit of a family do at my house. Around 11pm everyone left and / or went to bed. I decided to 'nip' in the garage and finish the oil change I had started earlier that day. Only had to tighten the sump nut up and fill - easy job! Except my Brandyhands overtightened the sump nut leading to me having to replace the sump.

Not drink related, but 30 years ago i also did that, great lesson for me at 17 years of age, on what a torque wrench is used for.. Cost me a few months yts wages to have it fixed

Is it smooth plastic? I grazed a motorcycle screen on a wall. I wet and dried it to get it smooth then used G3 scratch treatment to return it to a shine then polish.

Years ago I was partially restoring a GSXR 600SRAD and back when I liked a drink had been putting it back together whilst in no state to. I had the tank off to balance the carbs, change air filter.

Couple days later I got on the bike and started it, then set off only for it to die quickly. I had forgotten to connect the fuel hose and what distance I did get must have been due to what was in the lines already. How I didn’t notice the fuel pissing out of it or set myself on fire on the hot exhaust I’ll never know.

Cool story and all that and no help whatsoever, but you’re not alone in booze fuelled bad decisions!

I particularly liked the 'Brandyhands' reference above bowbowhehe
Luckily the scratches are on the left hand mirror, so when it's on the side stand you can't see it & not visible when riding. Not sure I'll bother with any ham fisted repair attempts, & I'm definitely going to remind myself not to carry out maintenance whilst under the influence!!
