Not quite up to the high standards of the opening races but good to see the Barni bike take a win.

At what point do we have to start seeing Toprak as a serious title challenger this year? I think we might be at that point now.

Visited Assen a few years back for Moto GP - a brilliant bike circuit.

It was the 2015 race where Rossi muscled past Marquez in the last corner to take the win,

In all honesty the only way Toprak doesn't win the title is if Bautista gets to grip with the bike bur I'm not sure he will, Rea might as well write off this season & get to work on a good base setting & go from there.

The Supersport race was good as it was similar half wet half dry (although the opposite parts of track to superbike), but it ran the whole length. So the quickest slick shod riders caught those on wets right at the end.

I think seeing Toprak as a serious title challenger started at Phillip Island....

He's very good! As much as I want Ducati to win it's great to see Toprak get up there. He was great to watch on the Yamaha and his transition to BMW has been excellent.

But what a first race yesterday - half wet, half dry. Barni took a punt on it raining again (or the track not drying out as fast as everyone else expected) as they had nothing to lose and the race ended early due to oil on the track! Yeah boo hoo the race ended earlier but that's how races go sometimes.....

What happened with Rea? He was at the front for the first lap but then seemed to fade backwards.

Toprak is by far the best rider in WSBK and now with the BMW he has something to challenge the Ducati dominance but i will hold off on title for this year for maybe another round or two, then see where things lie.

As someone on ph stated though, Toprak is just proving that Redding isn’t as good as his BSB results potentially suggested. 5 years on from his run to the title in BSB and he is going backwards.

That was a brilliant first race, its not often I sit forward when watching a race on TV. I can't remember the winner of the sprint race but I was so happy he won it. It was like seeing a baby seal make it to an ice berg as 2 killer whales are about to finish it off.

Toprak is something else...

It is going to be quite the year this year, a massive fight between the two dominant riders in the championship judging by that last race

Well, I think it's fair to say that WSBK is going to be the series to watch this year.

Toprak's riding this afternoon was majestic

I had a right result today as the full race was on Quest during their BSB broadcast. smile

Based on that it looks like Toprak will take some beating!

WSBK & BSB have been much better viewing than MotoGP for the last couple of seasons.

There was an hour and a half programme - 18.30 to 20.00. superpole race and race 2. Repeat broadcast 08.00 tomorrow (Monday).

There's also a weekend highlights program and a supersport programme, both repeated numerous times.

A good sunday superpole and race. I don't know what happend with Bautista in the sunday superpole but something threw a switch somewhere about halfway and he went loco.

Then the in main race Toprak found himself thumped back to like 11th or something and then dragged himself back up to take it.

Gardner first podium in SBK.

WSB racing this year is so far the pick of the 3 main race series I watch, with BSB and MotoGP.

Great to see Toprak really getting to grips with the BMW, the Yamaha's weren't so far off at Assen and the Bautista is a little inconsistent so far - which I think will settle down into the season.

Shaping up nicely for a good season ahead.
