My license is due for renewal shortly and am just going to do it online.
I remember a few years ago that sometimes categories (especially motorcycle) were missing on the new license.
Has anyone heard of this still happening or has it been tightened up on? That’s the main reason I’m doing it online apart from convenience.
I do remember - I also remember certain PHers taking the usual w-anchor/contrary stance and insisting that the DVLA couldn’t make a mistake and that the poster was a liar etc etc.
I would take photos of all relevant paperwork, screenshots etc.
I would also “lose” the original licence card with the bike groups on it.
That way if your new licence came with the groups missing you could miraculously “find” the old one which would then serve as proof of entitlement.

I managed to 'lose' my licence on two separate occasions so had to get replacements for the same cost as renewals and would you believe that on both occasions I 'discovered' the old 'lost' one shortly after the new replacement licence turned up in the post!? It happens at age 70. If you renew online you lose C1 & D1 - small trucks and minibuses.
If you want to retain those you have to have a medical and an eye test.
It happens before then. I am still waiting, and I am driving under my entitlement to do so under the Road Traffic Act 1988.

They managed to "lose" my motorcycle entitlement and were an absolute pain to deal with. Keep copies of everything, originals if possible. I'd like to think that all tests / passes etc are better kept now days, my original test was early 80's when everything was paper based, but wouldn't trust the DVLA as far as I could throw them.

My bike test was mid 70’s and of course there is no longer a record of my pass. Of course it’s the worst possible scenario but I’d rather not have to pass my test again.
