A2 to A test process
Discussion
I currently hold an A2 license and at the end of May I'll have held it for two years. I want to move to the full A license as soon as possible so I'm looking at getting my Mod 1 and 2 booked, ideally id like to do it without a bike school as I don't see the point in paying for someone just to take me to the test centre and back if I can do it myself.
My bike is restricted with a throttle-restrictor so its A2 compliant, is there any issue with me turning up to the test centre and doing the test on my own bike or does it need to be full power?

I'm no expert, but my understanding is you need to sit your test on the category of bike you are being tested to ride. Thus your restricted bike would be no use. Again, no expert though.
Once you've had your A2 for more than 2 years you don't need to do the theory test.
As above, you can't do it on your restricted bike because that's not the same class as what you'd be taking a test for.
Most test slots are block booked by training schools also, so it might be a bd to get a date for your Mod 1 and 2, area depending. A school wont generally just lend you a bike just to do your tests either without having at least some lessons with them

Thanks everyone for the replies, seems like there's no easy way to do the A license unless its through a school.
I completely get what you mean about developing bad habits and that's something I've got in mind, my friends dad is an instructor for the police and I've had a fair few rides with him following behind and giving me advice so I'd hope that would help somewhat.
Seems like it might be worth ringing up the place I did A2 at to see what they can do for me
