Now that we’re into mid April thoughts turn to this years TT where practice starts on the 27th May.

The starting order for the Superbike, Superstock and Senior has been announced and it’s great to see that no less than John McGuinness is starting at Number 1.

John is 6 months older than me and I can’t believe he’s still at the sharp end, especially when you consider his dreadful NW200 accident 7 years ago.

My enthusiasm for the TT has never waned in 40
years and I can’t wait to get on the ferry over to the island next month.

I think ultimately if John is still at it and enjoying himself then thats absolutely great, hes still an absolute missile too in all fairness - just because hes not at the sharp end doesnt mean hes not competitive - a couple have issues or dont quite perform and John is bang there for podiums!

You misread - he IS at the sharp end

There's not many who are consistently better

..next years TT. Already booked camping for 2025, just need to be ready 8:30 May 20th for ferry crossing. Tested new tent last weekend, now can't wait to start loading in 4 weeks.

Last year the IOM TT Pass had an early bird discount. Not seen it so far this year, or have I missed it?

I haven't seen anything this month but there was a 25% off offer for the 2024 TT Live Pass for previous subscribers but this has expired.

I think the most anticipated thing this year is whether Michael will surpass Joey’s number of wins.

Ha was on 765 triumph the other week at Bishopcourt and again today at the Cookstown so looks like a swap from Yamaha in the supersport class

truly on the countdown now, the island seems to be waking up.

This will be my 24th TT and I love it.

The programme went on pre order the other day and the island racer magazine is in shops now

I was just about to write a post asking that! A friend and I are talking about going for the first time next year.

Any tips for first timers?

We are old and soft so will want accommodation rather than taking a tent. Best place to stay? Are we already too late for TT25?

He was riding a bare-fairing'd 2024 Fireblade at Cookstown the weekend past.

As it stands this year will be my first (watching from home) TT in 24 years of going.

I’ve booked for the manx in August as the last couple of years I’ve much preferred the atmosphere and the bikes/people that are there for it.

That said I might still book something last minute for the TT though will see how I’m feeling about it closer to the date as I’ve already got the period booked off work.

Ferry crossings go up for grabs on Monday 20th May at 08:30. The premium spaces sell very quickly. Vans etc have to be booked over the phone but foot passengers, bikes and cars can be booked on line from then. General queue time on that morning varies from half an hour to all day depending on your luck though things have improved since Covid. Accomodation is as difficult to arrange and can be very expensive. There's plenty hotels and people do home stays during TT. You can request a big brochure from the Steam Packet ferry terminal to help. First time can be a bit difficult but trust me it's worth the effort. Nothing prepares you for the assault on your senses at the side of the circuit. Give us a shout if I can help you with anything

Any offers on now? I bought it last year, also either didn’t receive or didn’t see the renewal offer.

One week to go!
