Is what I was for the first hour or so of a long trip this morning.

First time on the bike properly for maybe 2 months - fully loaded, I.e. fully laden panniers & a backpack, full tank of fuel.

Yes it was very windy this morning and the first bit of my journey involved crossing the peak district where it was all a bit cold, bleak and sketchy... but why the fk did every imperfection in the tarmac have me sawing the bars back & forth like a fecking lumberjack?

And why did every corner get turned into a six-pence piece rather than the smooth, locked in curve that I imagined?

Relax you bellend, relax.

Urban commute for me (almost) all winter, yet first time I hit the nationals for a while I feel a bit out of place. Spring is coming, happy times. smile

I take it you've checked your tyre pressures are OK?

I can tell when they're as little as 2psi off

Could be tyre pressure! If I havent ridden for a while I go to big tesco bus car park in Millhouses and do some tight zig zags / u turns to get relaxed

Could be head bearings too, when mine started going it felt like the bike just wanted to nose dive into the ground

We’ve all been there before.

A few harsh words with yourself and telling yourself to stop being such a mincer usually sorts you out.

Just waiting for this cold snap to end and I'll be digging the bike our from the inlaws garage. That first ride will be a bit rusty, happens to all of us.

Maybe a bit too much weight on the back wheel?

And just to be pedantic is your sixpenny bit really meant to be a threepenny bit?

I was similar on my first road ride after a few months off - cold weather and damp roads just didn't fill me with confidence

Even though I'd been on my enduro bike regularly - including on the road

I didn't fancy getting wet today and didn't want to be wet at my destination so took the bus. I didn't motorcycle in Feb. but got out on New Year's Day and 6 & 7 Jan. so.... I used the car on Monday evening and saw a Gritter truck go along an A-Road flyover. Hopefully the rain has washed off some salt.

I've not checked my tyre pressures since I've owned the bike. Perhaps I'll do that later today.

Managed a 2 hour blast in yesterday's sunshine. Tyres were 2psi out, so pumped them up beforehand. I was a bit wobbly at first, having not ridden for some 6 weeks. I took it very easy for the first 10 miles or so.

When the tyres start squaring off the road can feel awful. I found that Pirelli Rosso Corsa's are really prone to it.

Just ordered a new pair of tyres for my bike, as the last ride out felt like I needed stabilisers!

I saw the thread tittle and thought Fullook was trying to get my attention.... Rude.

I'd go with rusty, horrible cold and slimy roads, plus maybe tyre pressures or worn tyres for bonus points.
Things can just feel horrible this time of year before the roads clean up a bit.

Yes I always feel very rusty on my first ride of the season. Saturdays ride was interesting - booked into the garage for a front brake issue I had to ride the whole way there in the wet with only a rear brake!
