Received the latest IAM magazine the other day and this made me laugh out loud considering there were previous comments about how to attract younger drivers/riders (it's FAR from the only age related advert) ........ Also saw in the latest TVAM magazine how the average age is 55 - up 1 year from last.

It's not a critique at the capability of some but god knows how they expect to get more younger people to join.

I know there are going to be crossovers with disabilities (in which case perhaps the advertiser might be better off going to NABD!) but if you need a stairlift, how are you at an emergency stop?

Yep. Wouldn't have stood out quite so much without the clearly elderly people on the picture or the myriad of other adverts - cruises, turmeric for joint pain, "holidays you can pass to your grandchildren" etc

Apparently 48% of 'motorcyclists' are over 60 now.

There must be a huge market for machines to crane the old gits off their 'adventure' bikes.

Every time the IAM is mentioned, I remember a Performance Bikes mag giveaway sticker for the
Institue of Aggressive Motorcyclists...

Surprisingly, most of the Old Gits don't have adventure bikes! whistle

I am getting hip ache, possibly a footpeg to saddle angle and stretching to get feet down thing. Thanks for mentioning turmeric.

Remember to book an over 60s cruise whilst you're at it!

Very good. The most boring magazine in the world. I usually just bin it without opening.

I know you're not TVAM's biggest fan, but they do have a scheme for Under 30 riders where they can get their IAM course fees refunded when they pass their test. So apart from actually running the bike it's free training. This is funded by the club, not IAM, so they are at least trying..
