I "upgraded" my helmet from a Scorpion 1400 Carbon to a Shoei NXR2

I've only worn it a couple of times and so far I'm less than impressed

It will shut itself on the two or three lowest detents at 50ish mph so the only choice is closed (and misty glasses) or open an inch

Is there a way to fix / adjust it - Google shows others have the issue but I haven't seen a fix

It fits well but the other problem is that I have ears - it's painful to remove it

Haven't had either issue with any of my cheaper helmets

I have the same helmet and wear glasses but only ride with the visor fully down or fully up so can't comment on it being partially open and closing itself.

However, with the pinlock correctly inserted and all of the vents open, I've never ever had a problem with this helmet or previous Shoeis misting my glasses.

There are of course 4 vents across the front of the helmet. Are they all open?

I was out today 4 degrees and rain / sleet

I find the chin / head vents don't make any difference to my glasses / visor misting

As it’s so new I’d be returning it and explaining the reason so they know it’s a fault and not because you’ve got cold feet.

Buy another brand if it’s a common issue.

I’ve got a x spirit 3 that’s fine for visor control.

I've had it a few months - crappy weather means I haven't used it much

Ditto on my Shoei Neotec 2.

It fogs up fast. It shuts itself so if I have it higher to counter this the rain then gets between the outer and inner layer

I'm going to fit small rubber bungs to the edges of the visor button..

I also have a Neotec 2, and also have the exact same issue. Very annoying, especially as in every other regard it is superb.

I've always had Shoei (23 years riding), but in the past the helmets were quite happy to sit about 1/2" open - in fact there used to be a little lever on the right-hand side, which would deliberately hold it open just a little crack at the bottom. Also, the breath guard isn't big enough to trap exhaled air from my nose below the line of the visor, so I don't even bother having it installed any more as it was (marginally) more uncomfortable for no benefit.

don't get a 3 then I’ve replaced a four-year-old 2 with a new 3 and the issues are worse
the last few rides in the conditions we’ve had have been awful with fogging and misting, rain running down the inside of the visor
no crack position open to the first click and it just shuts and mists up, it gets dried out every night in the kitchen no improvement

I was thinking of modding the mouth vent to accept/flow more air when the latch is open
