Had not really noticed this bike before - but following a chat and strong recommendations from the service team at my local Yamaha dealer, started going through online reviews - and it seems like a brilliant bike.for the journos.

Tempted.

Any real world owner experience, including wind buffeting (or not) on the motorway? I know it’s a naked bike.

I found my KTM 890R pretty bad on a private runway over about 80mph - v bad buffeting - the KTM power parts screen made a big difference.

So wondering about the Yam. Any thoughts much appreciated.

My MT-09 was good up to about 135-140kph, then the buffeting got to be a bit much. So I'd say 85mph is the limit on motorways, up to 90-100mph for shorter blasts. I actually preferred having that wind buffer though, stopped me going silly speeds and getting a ticket. On a sport bike you can hit 200kph+ and barely feel it.

Really great bike though, really loved it. A pic for my own nostalgia. biggrin

Have you thought about the GP version of the XSR900? If I was in the market for something with a sensible/useable amount of power to replace my FrankenTrumpet I'd be taking a very close look at one.

Buffeting is a very personal thing, depending on your size, weight, helmet etc

I end up cutting screens down or removing them so my helmet is in clean air

There's no buffeting on a naked bike - and that's how I like it
