Honda CRF450RL Fuel Pump Replacement
Discussion
I think I mentioned it in another thread, but my fuel pump is doing this weird thing where it won't start when hot, but it's fine after cooling down for 15-20 minutes. It's left me stranded a couple of times, so I'm replacing it.
Albeit a full replacement is ridiculously expensive ($600), so I've bought a rebuild kit, we'll see how it goes...
Anyway tank off!
I love this titanium tank! Although it could do with being a bit bigger, but I don't like the look of the larger plastic ones.

I heped a mate change the pump in his Yamaha.
The £15 replacement from ebay has worked fine for about 3 years now.
I also changed one in a Ducati, the original Walbro was rusted around the bottom, I could have got a genuine Walbro for a hundred quid or so, one for a car of the same diameter and flow rate was very cheap. I think Ispent more on new hoses and clips in the end!

OK, I got the assembly apart and back together again with the new pump in.
The weird thing is, the main four wires are supposed to be just pulled out, which puts stress on the little spade connectors. AND Honda recommends doing this process every 1800 miles to replace the fuel filter. I can't imagine the wires/connectors will last with constant tugging. I'll stick to every 10K, as every maintenance milestone on this bike seems ridiculously conservative.
