Every year me and a couple of mates go to one of the European MotoGPs. Not been to Mugello, so its on the list to consider this year.
Fly in and then we like to stay in a town or city, so we've got a range of options for eating, drinking in the evenings, typically arrive Friday and leave Monday. Will have a hire car. Florence looks under an hour away, is that realistic on race weekend? Any other good towns to stay in?

Will stay in a hotel or AirBNB

Camped and stayed in Florence for race weekend.

Easy drive to circuit, as with all events, leave early etc. Look on google maps for parking around the circuit, everyone stuffs the cars into fields on the surrounding roads, so be prepared to walk, tuscan hills ... lots of walking.

Florence is a stunning city, great place to stay.

Very feasible trip, be prepared to get on your toes. We typically spend Saturday's wandering round circuit, then pick a spot for Sunday.

Apologies for the negative .

Be prepared to sit stationary in traffic for HOURS after the race finishes , been twice .

They put in a one way system to get away from the circuit ,it just doesn't work .

Also the parking in fields costs quite a bit ,the farmer that owns said field is coining it in that weekend and despite it being bone dry some cars got stuck due to the soft uneven surface , tractor on standby for pulling you out .

15 Euros I think it was in 2019 .

Probably should say we camped in '07 and drove down in '12 .... We parked for free in the field and managed to get out relatively easily then.

Have a great time.

Ensure your travel insurance covers you for Stendhal syndrome.

Thanks, good to know its doable from Florence. Usually try to look around on the Friday afternoon to work out the parking. Always get to the circuit about 8ish on the Sunday. Been OK for Assen and San Marino previously
