Hi just joined this forum looking for advice got a gen 3 ZX10R had it for a year now. Been parked up over wither with an optimate trickle charger on, fired up first time went a ride came home and armed the alarm no issues, then half an hour later the alarm started going off so I disarmed it and armed it again no problem. About 20mins half an hour again the alarm started again 3 times this happed only way I could get some sleep was by putting it on winter mode. Anyone else had same or similar issue?
Thanks
Josh

Use a meter to check the charging system is actually working, and that the battery is holding charge.

My Gen3 has eaten a few stators now!

I cant really help, but my Triumph has the same alarm system and its a pain in the neck.

I'm going to be removing it before the bike season this year. My insurance didnt change when I said it had no alarm anyway.

Thanks for the reply’s I’ll check the charging system tonight and I’ll phone insurance and see if there’s a difference in price if I was to get rid off the system

Agree. If its not saving you anything bin it.

All aftermarket alarms will cause issues at some time and its never convenient.

I actually mentally discount bikes for sale with Datatool for the cost of removing it. I'll also favour a bike without Meta / Datatool fitted etc.

This thread reminded me so I just went and phoned my local Triumph dealer there (i know you have a Kawasaki OP but its the same alarm). The parts guy knew exactly what I was on about and they always keep one on the shelf. £6.80 delivered smile

It would be two on my bike, but aye youre not wrong. But knowing my luck/handywork my paperclip would wiggle itself free about 4 hours from home and I wouldnt be able to find another smile

Spoke to insurance basically £20 difference if I remove it, I’ve also ordered bypass plug off eBay I’ll wait till it comes and remove alarm system seems like a lot off people getting issues from these systems and like you said if your out on the bike and something goes that’s you

Is that £20 an admin fee to record the change or an actual change in premium? I’d bet it’s admin and makes no difference to the base cost.

They said on the phone as long as I change it before my renewal date they won’t charge admin fee and the new insurance quote was £20 more

Well worth it. Bane of my life on all the bikes I had them on. Last one I had it disabled the bike randomly when it malfunctioned, sometimes the bike started, then it cut out, sometime never. Gave the serial number to Datatool and they sent me the bits to remove it.

Just had a better look tonight turns out it’s a s4 green which I think I can just remove without using bypass plug going by people online, checked the charge it’s sitting at 14v on tickover. Got mot tomorrow once that’s by with I’ll be removing the system

Actually I think you're correct - when I removed mine at first I don't think I needed to bypass it.

I eventually removed its wiring too.

Edit: Sorry, mine was a meta system!

Bin it! I had a datatool S4 on a Yamaha XJ6. One day it decided to immobilise the bike whilst I was riding it miles from home. Nothing I could do would get it to disarm. Eventually had to get the bike recovered. Long story short, turns out there was a recall on it. They gave me options to replace or remove the alarm. I took the latter option and not had an alarm since, find them more hassle than they are worth.
