Basically to get quicker pick up and not have to twist my hand right back when on higher revs- a daft idea?

The issue is my controls mounted on top of the throttle body would be slightly out/further away..

You need to roll the throttle rather than twist the wrist -

Rotating the grip and body won’t make any difference. You need a bigger diameter on the part of the twistgrip that the cable runs round. In the good old days before the throttle got integrated on with switchgear and it was just a separate throttle you could buy ‘quick action’ twist grips. I had one on a Norton Commando circa 1975. Other than that if the other end of the cable goes to a lever affair to lift the slides/open the butterflies you could look at shortening the lever. What you’re needing to do is get more throttle opening from the same amount of twist, and just rotating the assembly ain’t going to make any difference.

Had the same issue with the GSXS1000F. One post above me is the solution

I dont understand - if you roll the throttle tube / cam forward, you still have to twist the throttle the same amount (1/3 of a rotation or so?) to go from fully closed to fully open.

OP, are you just having a little bit of a laugh here biglaugh

Some people have replaced the cam the cables are on with one from e.g. an R6, which has quite an eccentric profile, retaining the "soft" profile at small openings for accurate control and then a shaper profile for the bigger oenins, the throttle becomes a 1/4 turn job then. I think it used to be a popular modification with SV650's

I think the answer might be to ride on a treadmill.

Just buy a 3/4 turn throttle tube, they are easy to fit. https://www.mandp.co.uk/products/g2-harley-quarter... fit one 10 years ago on my bike.

G2 make them for lots of different bikes, they should be called 3/4 turn as they reduce by about 1/4 ....a real 1/4 turn throttle would be like and on/off switch biggrin

I can actually sympathise with the OP on this. My current VFR800 is a jerky little thing on initial pick-up. So have to be careful and not give it too much on initial rotation. Meaning that once moving I too find that I have to slightly rotate my hand to get full throttle.

Friend years ago (22 yrs+ ago) who started racing R6’s said the best thing he did was some mod to get the same throttle movement from an effective quick throttle…?! Meaning he only had to use ½ of the twist motion to get full throttle. Said it made the bike feel more responsive, suppose it would on track. Not sure what that was, but being 22+ ago suppose things have moved on. That also may have been a carb version…??

To me I’m not sure why a throttle isn’t mapped in effective 5/10/15/20/30/50/75/100 % as a percent of the movement if that makes sense.
