Anybody used Swinton for bikes? My renewal came through and is £50 more than last year, when I was hoping it'd move in the other direction. Did some comparison and have a tonne of cheaper quotes, but through two comparison sites Swinton has come in at ~£160 with the next closest ones coming in around £280 or more. It doesn't include riding other bikes (don't need that) and I'd probably add Legal and Personal Accident cover taking it over £200, but still, it's way cheaper.

Just wondering if anyone has strong opinions on them?

Also, apologies if complaining about a £50 rise hurts a few folk, I know others are getting smashed for way more than that, and it sucks frown

All I will say is they charged me twice for one premium and refused to refund one.

I've just insured with them for this year, they were the cheapest for me on my RSV4 by a couple of hundred pounds and beat bemotos renewal by £600. I also added my svartpilen 701 on as a multibike and they only added £60 versus quotes of £200+ Can't say anything about claiming with them but I'm definitely happy with the prices.

Now I'm jealous. Sold my Svart 701 when I left Australia to come back to the UK and I really do miss it! That sounds like a great deal though.

How did that happen? Sounds bizarre. Pretty sure an ombdusman or something would have your back there.

I had to take Swintons to the insurance ombudsman a few years back after their refusal to put right their very simple mistake.

As part of it, I got some bad press in MCN and a refund of 3 years worth of my insurance premiums.

That was a satisfying day.

My advice would be none of them are great but Swintons are the worst i've experienced in my 40 years of purchasing bike insurance .

Devitt seem to be one of the better ones around ( but a bit pricey), Also steer clear of one call, mckenzie/Hodgson,MCE,Bennets,Carole Nash and Flux

I'm with Bennets atm, and they did bring the premium down after I asked them to drop pillion cover and see if they could get closer on price. The Bike Social thing they haven't isn't a must have but it has saved me a bit on a couple of accessories. Will check out Devitt and see what they come up with/
