Anyone know about the CCM 644?
Discussion
Been looking at various road legal traillies, and the one that looks like it ticks all my boxes is the ccm 644, but i cant find much real world feedback from owners.
Has anyone on here had one?
What downsides am i missing?
Will parts availabity be a problem or can stuff be repurposed from other bikes?

Was it any good with a pillion, and how was it offroad?
Wiring and elecrical is what i am best at so would love to find one cheap with electrical problems, probably asking too much though.
Any problems getting parts?
The spec sheet says they are pretty light, is that what they feel like?

TBH I don't know about a pillion, never carried anyone on the back of it.Wiring and elecrical is what i am best at so would love to find one cheap with electrical problems, probably asking too much though.

I had no problem getting parts, most are DR650 bits.
It felt light to me, but I came from a 200kg inline 4.
Can't comment on what it's like off road as mine was in supermoto trim. The only time I took it off road was this lol -

Oops indeed. Hope you weren't hurt. Selling the salvage?
Was it fun?
Well behaved part throttle ?
Anything you didnt like about it?
I was thinking more about chassis parts might be hard to come by.
Were the brakes good?
Broke my leg, dislocated my ankle, snapped all the ligaments and gouged a big bit out of the cartilage but other than that I was fine. Was it fun?

Brakes were good (brembos), suspension was good (WP), was pretty good part throttle but it had a pipe and airbox mods so was jetted to suit.
I'm probably not the person to ask if it was fun, as I hated it. Not the bikes fault, I'd never had a big single and wanted to try a supermoto but I just didn't like it.
For parts this place is useful

Damn! Sore one. All healed up now?
I like a big thumper, but supermotos make no sense to me as riding in the dirt is orders of magnitude more fun than riding on the road so I see supermotos as just ruined dirt bikes, but each to their own.
Thanks for the info, joined the proper ccm group on fb, and there are a few good ones for sale on there that don't seem to be listed elsewhere, so decision is made, I deffo want one. Now to get the 650gs painted and sold, and no doubt the mrs will be whining that I only just bought the thing, but I absolutely hate it. One of my worst biking decisions other than buying a second ktm thinking that a 4 stroke one might be reliable.

I’ve considered one many times but never actually owned or ridden a 644 however I’ve tried a friends 404 many times and had a test ride on an R30. It’s the exact same recipe- take a legendary Suzuki engine (from the DRZ 400 this time), build a custom frame, add top quality parts and then finish with some dubious quality electronics.
The parts are out there but you need to know what manufacturers they sourced them from, Suzuki for the motor obviously, acerbis for the plastics, Berlinger for the brakes etc.
Based on what I’ve seen they built some very capable machines which address some of the shortcomings of the original Suzukis that they’re based on, much better suspension as standard and a good bit lighter as examples. It’s basic technology and very friendly to the home mechanic other than the Acumen speedo which are notoriously unreliable and almost always swapped out for a much better £50 replacement from eBay.
It is NOT built for passengers. Stock seats remind you this is built for a few hours of sunny Sunday madness at which they excel (if big, noisy singles are your thing).

I would be rewiring anyway, to accommodate led lights, lithium battery, mosfet reg, heated grips, and if the seat is crap my friend has a bespoke sofa factory, I am sure between us we can add more padding, some gel and a heat pad since we are going to the trouble. Pillion pegs won't be an issue. I understand it won't be a comfy tourer, we will be exploring brings and trails on it. Passenger is 11, so not too big yet.
I have this little tft dash that is a chinese ripoff of a 1250gs dash, but so far it seems to work as well as is claimed, it certainly displays speed, rpm and all the idiot lights reliably.
