Personally I think a massive hit that will appeal to a certain market.

A nice mix of TZR/TRX styling but with a modern frame, suspension etc.

The question is would you buy one given there are so many good bikes on the market at reasonable prices?

Not sure if I’d buy one? But I do like the look of it.

Hopefully it will be at EICMA next month.

It looks orright

Lower fairing will be an option, as well as reassuringly expensive Akrapovic exhaust.

I like the bright colours, but the proportions are slight too eighties for me, I prefer the nineties supersports look.

Still like it though!

It's absolutely the sort of thing I should like, but I just don't for some reason!

Not sure what it is. Kind of looks a mish-mash of 500GP era, 70s endurance racing and a modern 'caff racer' all slung together and for me it just doesn't look right somehow...

Similar thoughts, seat unit and headlight for me.

Appreciate this isn't comparing an apple to an apple, but prefer the look of this.

Love it, been thinking of replacing the RGV with something a bit more useable and this really does look good.
Will try to have a poke round at Motorcycle Live if its there and maybe try to get a test ride at some point

I just love the fact that you can buy stuff like that at all. Brilliant.

I think it will appeal to the "modern retro" crowd. Looks OK but not something I could see me buying.

It needs a longer seat unit which would also allow them to get rid of that stupid number plate bracket.

It's a thumbs up from me.

Doesn't look like it can take a pillion though, so I wouldn't be buying one.

At first glance looks very smart ,but as soon as you cast your eye closer it all falls apart. There is definitely a place for the retro look, but unfortunately it doesn’t work on the “mass “ produce market.

yes

Longer tail unit, or tank and seat further back. Also fairing further back towards the handlebars. As it is, it looks a bit like someone has fitted a fairing to the wrong bike or something.

In isolation I like all the bits, but it just doesn't fit together somehow. Which is a shame as I love the idea!

Also needs two huge round headlights resembling the Dartford tunnel in scale... hehe

ETA

The fact that the fairing looks slightly odd doesn't bother me, I always loved the look of the old F1 endurance bikes as it was a case of function over form, built to race, not look pretty.

So sort the tail unit, twin headlights, paint it in Tech 21 endurance colours and I'll take one smile

Brilliant - love it.
‘Revs your heart’ indeed.
Great that Yamaha has the vision to make fun product - Honda has much to learn.
Can’t help but wonder what the lower fairing looks like.
Hope they sell like hot cakes.

It needs twin headlights like an FZR or the Kawasaki ZR900 body kit that makes it look like a ZXR.

I like the blue and yellow XSR.

Don't think it has one...

Just needs a decat and titanium Yoshi to finish it imho, I know that's not strictly very GP, but it's very 80s/90s.

This seems as good a place as any to mention, the Velocity Moto RD500 body kit on the same bike.

Agreed on every count. Cannot believe it’s a production bike and not just an idea someone’s cobbled together for a proposal to the Yamaha board.

amongst many things: Particularly love the way the top fairing has been modified with a blow torch to miss the switchgear from last minute change of idea of clip on height / angle.
