Timid, unsure of turning, all thumbs and no confidence?

Weird. I've had no near misses. Nothing. Just suddenly gone all nervous?

Is this usual, a phase? Or have I lost mein Mojo.

Might just be the yips but could be bike related.

At various times I’ve felt off and found it to actually be the bike. Fraying clutch cable, knotchy head stock bearings, throttle cable loose, that kind of thing.

Worn tyres can sometimes all of a sudden feel odd.

Worth giving the bike a good once over.

I was much more scared in the wet on my RS660 2021 with all the electric nannies you could hope for than on my 2012 GSXR that doesn’t even have ABS…I don’t know why???

Worn front tyres do it for me, in the dry I can mentally overcome it, but in the wet I just go slower. So definitely check the bike over, for your own peace of mind if nothing else.

But whatever is causing it for you, roll with it and accept you are a bit less confident for now, it'll pass. If you stress about it that creates a negative loop.

It's thinking about it instead of just doing it

I had it today, I started thinking about a sharp turn and I ended up slowing to almost walking pace

Like running up the stairs in the dark, if you think where's the next step. you fall - JFDI

I think you are right, I expect I subconsciously take corners much faster when I am focussed on catching a friend compared to thinking about a corner.

You've stopped looking in the right place. You're no longer looking where you want to go but looking where you think you might go.

I lost my mojo a few years ago, I suddenly just couldn’t feel comfortable cornering.
I did some advanced lessons with an ex police bike instructor and he quickly worked out what I was doing wrong and how to fix it. Sometimes you just need someone following you to see what’s wrong and talk you through it.

In my case I was initially leaning too far then having to correct which made me really unsteady.
My lines were also crap so I couldn’t see as far through corners.

Do you use glasses at all? I've found with my new pair complete with all the lovely coating they popped on for free that I'm struggling a little bit with glare/light streaks from my stigmatism - puts me off a little down the darkest of roads. My old ones with just an anti-scratch coating didn't do it so I'm thinking it has to do with the anti-fog coating they put on, which quite frankly does bks all to prevent fogging anyhow!

That made me chuckle way more than it should have done.

I would say "check your tyre pressures" as an over inflated tyre could do the same.

Check your front tyre isn't "chamfered" - I had this a few month ago and felt like the front was going to wash every time I took a right hand bend. Turns out the tyre was badly worn and turning in felt more like I was going to Tip off! new tyre felt instantly better

Age of tyre may also be a factor, they might just be old and hard.

I had some tyres on a 911 that looked perfect but they were ancient and made the car a handful in the wet, it was fine on new tyres.

Might be worth a new set. Pirelli rosso 11 seem a good road tyre and I have heard lots of good reports about the Bridgestone s22

It has Anakee 3s on and on testing the pressures they are actually spot on what I'd set (32/36).
