Picked up my 890 R today, traded up from a 790 Duke and I'm really pleased with it. Deliberated for a while as to what to go for, test rode the Streetfighter V2 which was great but couldn't justify the £££ and most of my riding is Norfolk/Suffolk B roads and the added weight and longer legs of the Ducati didn't seem to suit as well as my KTM.
Had a few great rides on the 790 recently and decided on the 890R mainly for the suspension and improvements to the fuelling and engine. Ended up watching perhaps all of the review videos on YT and rang my local dealer (Orwell's Ipswich) to order one!
I was happy with the PX on the 790 and got what I feel was a great deal on the 890 with tech pack, first ride today before the weather goes to pot and I'm stoked with it!

Tail tidy, slip on and a play with the suspension are all I feel it needs. It's everything I hoped it would be!

Nice bike, congrats!

Did you consider the latest 790 with the upgraded WP suspension pack?

Had a feel of one in the dealers when my superduke was in for a service. Feels like it weighs nothing in comparison moving it off the stand.

The 790/890s are cracking bikes.
Only fly in the ointment is that they physically look comically small if you’re much over 6ft or of ‘large frame’.
I always felt like I looked a bit like a monkey on a circus tricycle on mine (6’2” & 14st).

Congratulations. I love the orange. The only thing spoiling the looks for me is the shade of the Aluminium seat subframe. I really like that feature so like it in a silvery shade.

This is a concern of mine to a certain degree as I am over 6ft but I figure most bikes will look a bit small..Importantly it doesn't feel small or cramped...

Thanks, I didn't know about the latest 790 having an upgraded suspension pack. I think from memory the '23 790 is a little step backwards from the 2019 bike I had in terms of power and toys?

Really nice bike those 890s and they go well from those I've ridden with (I've not personally ridden one)

I see quickly they are happy to wheelie! Anyways enjoy!

Yep, the power is down a smidge to let it be available to limit to A2 spec. It's also a lot cheaper.

Either way you've got a great bike so enjoy it biggrin

How are you finding the Cup 2 tyres at this time of year?

I'm only 50miles into ownership - luckily yesterday was fairly mild and perfectly dry. They felt great out of the box especially compared to the 3500mile old Maxxis that were on the 790! Looking forward to getting a proper feel for them and the bike, fingers crossed we get a few nice days over the next couple of months!

I think it was the Lamb Chops Rides video that suggested as the 790 had been reduced to £6999 from £7999 to spend the £1K saving on the optional upgraded WP suspension.

You have to pay to have all of the electronic doo dahs kept on after 600 KM I think.

Congrats – they're such good bikes! I've seen some proper bargains on them. Having ridden the 790 with the upgraded suspension (£1400 option), the 890R is still ahead in terms of handling… and the tyres are a big part of that though. Honestly think it's one of the best handling road bikes I've ridden, I just wish I fit on it!
