So this absolute POS Carla Stein from Aberdeen, hits a motorcyclist in her car & does a runner, leaving him with 'life ruining' / 'catastrophic life changing injuries' (depending on which media source you read the article in), & avoids prison because the judge said she was too young to go there.... she's 22!

Just over 17 months ago this utter POS received a ban for being behind the wheel whilst off her tits on ketamine.

WTF does someone have to do to actually be sent to prison in this country? I hope karma bites her hard!

Reminds of that student doctor that stabbed her partner and avoided jail essentially because it would ruin her prospects.

The depressing story of the day continues.

The council said its decision was based on scientific evidence that the brain is not fully developed below that age.

So there is a high chance that people in their first eight years from their legal driving age are too underdeveloped to be held responsible for their impact on others.

How to prevent impact on others by the underdeveloped? An "individualistic approach" for under 25s which takes into account their life experiences before declaring them fit for driving?

Unfortunately this seems to be a thing with the Scottish 'government' at the moment. More victim mentality. Lets absolve anyone under 25 of their crimes because they're too immature to realise the consequences. Let's absolve the 24 year old who stabbed someone to death whilst off their face on drink & drugs because...... they were on drink & drugs. Let's introduce drugs consumption rooms because junkies are 'victims'. Everything's the fault of the Tories, Westminster, the wealthy, the English, middle-aged white men, colonialism, blah blah blah. All an excuse because some people simply never grow up.

I've got a solution. No-one can drive a car until they're 25, but 16-24 year olds can ride scooters & motorcycles and 'graduate' to greater levels of power as they mature. smile Perhaps being on two-wheels and being more vulnerable might help idiots to mature quicker. Without consequences for actions, many would remain in a child-like narcissistic bubble all their lives.

Whilst slightly O/T, this is far from the first instance where Holyrood policy is perhaps well intentioned but poorly executed. I think that doing something silly that gets you a record when you're young shouldn't necessarily ruin your adult life. However, I think 25 is too old, and the range of crimes it applies to are too broad.

We may not have seen the last of this though. I think there was a case of a rape recently where the person didn't get jailed and the Fiscal (CPS up here) - appealed the sentence. This one would appear ripe for an appeal.

Unfortunately I can tell you what they have to do to go to jail

If you drive an uninsured impreza, fill it with young lads to impress but can't drive for st and lose control at around 70 in a 40, mount the barriers between the lanes, take off and go through the windscreen of a car coming the other way

Kill the driver (my younger brother) run off and lie about it

You might get four years but be out substantially earlier

I suppose I should be grateful he was an ugly lad because it sounds like if he was a pretty girl he wouldn't have gone to prison at all

incredible how when it suits them they are not fully developed but when it comes to voting, or having a sex change or deciding you want a pair of tits and a vigina at the age of 5 and teaching how to wk at 7 they are perfectly developed enough to do so.

world is so fked its beyond comprehension

This one ended up in jail (but only 3 years). No prospects though...

https://www.bridgwatermercury.co.uk/news/17948170....

At 15, already disqualified for driving TWICE! Owned a ratty Peugeot that was untaxed, unMOTed and uninsured and despite the disqualification, used to drive often (locals were always reporting him). Eventually got chased by police, binned it, and killed his mate.

The other offences (assault, hoax police calls etc) just help round off what a character he was...!

Mature enough to vote at 16 in Scotland but not really mature until 25 when it comes to commiting offences.

If you're old enough to drive, you're old enough to take the consequences if you fk up. Same with drinking, drug taking, knife carrying & a million other things.

This case irks when I remember the guy from the Scottish Borders who got 6 months inside for speeding. 160 on a country road so not too clever but nobody was injured & no property damaged.

I'm very sorry to read that KTMsm. What a thing that just did not need to happen. Very sorry for your brother and for your loss.
