Bride of Frankenduc!!

because one needy Ducati in the garage is never enough, it seems I've become the unwitting custodian of another lonely track slaaaag Ducati....
having been built as a pair of 1098's in 2008 for the Canadian Superbike Championship, the bike never turned a wheel in anger as the team and it's funding evaporated.
So she's spent the last 8 years as a display piece, intended to become a track day rental which never happened. So in 3 years she's done 2 laps, suffering a minor low side in the wet which broke the QS.
Since then, yet more dust has been accumulated until the owner decided to move her on.
Having been built for the championship as was, she's got full Ohlins suspenders both ends(cartridge fronts in the OE forks), YoYoDyne slipper clutch, race wiring and battery, Hindle full exhaust system, Woodcraft controls and a ton of other bits and bobs as well as a full set of spare painted race bodywork.
And seeing as I have a ton of parts from my current project, she'll get the spare Nemesis Traction Control system and ECU as well as some other odds and sods I have lying around like Ti clutch cover, Ti axles etc....
So for winter she'll get a thorough going over, new plugs, oil, filters, brake fluid etc as well as a few toys from the parts bin ready for next years track day season in case Daisy is still too shy to come out..
Wait until the wife sees this one!! ..

Excellent
Well bought sir, very brave. Perhaps you can just hide it in the garage with a sheet over it?
Can you not just tell her you built it from spares for the first one?

I'm also going to use the zebra in herd camouflage approach.... another red bike in a garage full of red bikes kinda melts into the scenery......
But the problem is hiding the fecking great trailer behind the truck when we're away for a long weekend, why it's there and wtf is inside it and why did I disappear so early in the morning for a few hours

Might as well 'fes up and pay the fine

Forgiveness is easier to achieve than permission after all
I suspect "the fine" will be paid over a long period!

IME they normally are, and are never fully paid! Good luck!
Given the kak I get for having 1 bike and that there seems to be no scale of penalty for the 5 to 10 bike bracket (she don't know about the CR 400 Super4 in the shed in bits I took out of Vietnam

Proper Pics!!

Lots of dust & grime from being sat around. But she'll get a strip down over winter, fresh fluids and tyres and a few nice bits and bobs like nemesis traction control & ECU, Ti axle and clutch cover as well as possibly having an Akra Ti header set married to the Hindle end cans..Sort the clip ons and grips out and .... job'll be a good'un.

So, small update.
Brought the BoF home and started the process of stripping and cleaning as well as assessing the jobs to do.
First order of business was to remove the Bazzaz unit and wiring. Reconnected it back to standard and bingo bango bongo, she starts on the button.
Next up is to put several small pieces through the tumble media cleaner to smarten them up.
Then start looking through my bins of Duc parts to see what I can improve or update.
Going to redo the loom as it's the standard road spec item and relocate the battery box and rec/rec from next to the bottom exhaust.
Then it's onto replacing some bits like grips and fluids.
Will refit a radiator fan as it's missing and change the gear lever to race shift pattern....
Will order a few carbon goodies like exhaust shield and key surrounding.
Going to change the standard ecu to a micro tech system so I can dump the key assembly and chip ring immobilizer...
Should keep me busy over winter..

Love it!
Can't beat a good project, especially if its a bargain.
Can I ask about your tumble media, is this a home bit of kit?
No, it’s from Harbour Freight in the US. I use a crushed walnut media generally as it’s soft enough not to mar the items but takes a little longer to finish nicely. Can't beat a good project, especially if its a bargain.

Typically I’ll run it for a few days
