Evening all,
My bike came without indicators and I have fitted LED indicators complete with resistors.
They flash darned fast.
I can live with it, but is there any risk at mot time from having indicators that flash rather quickly?
Thanks,
Mike

Sounds like you need a suitable resistor (i.e. higher resistance) in the circuit(s) to slow them down.

That would be the solution. It came with pre-wired resistors. Could replace them if I have to, just wondering if I have to…

How fast do they flash?

I've just Googled the MOT manual and it says "Indicators must flash between 60 and 120 times per minute.". So I guess get your watch out and get counting....

You can buy proper flasher relays for a few bikes.

60 to 120 flashes per minute! Thanks for that.
Think it’s a fail then!
(190bpm)
Do push to cancel indicators need a “special” type of relay?
Thanks.

It sounds like they forgot to put the resistors in your indicators biggrin

Generally I find you can buy an adjustable LED relay on eBay as most are similar

I had this issue when I upgraded mine but it was an advisory, not a fail.

I bought a fixed rate relay for less than a fiver and all was well. You can buy adjustable rate ones for similar money if that is more to your liking.

They are Oxford indicators and as I say, came with four resistors color coded and with male/female crimps.
So I don’t know how i could have wired them incorrectly, or alternatively why the Oxford product does not work properly.
Bit irritated about this this morning!
I’m going to recheck the wiring and mess about with the resistors… see what happens.
It’s not right and now I don’t like it!
And I have ordered a relay!!

I'd expect better from Oxford

LEDs will only light if the positive and negative are correct so that must be right

I've had the same experience but as they were £5 Chinese ones from eBay, I just bought a relay
