Last night enjoying a ride home from work, small thud on my neck, adams apple area - I assume it had got lodged in my jacket neck and took it out on me.

Forgot how sore these Jasper sts stings are - funnily enough riding at well over the speed limit reduced the pain considerably lol.

Many years ago I had one pass my chin, fly around inside my visor and attack me on the way out of the helmet, the panic was ridiculous/dangerous!

Any other Jasper related stories?

I had one hit around the neck then drop down inside my jacket. All my wife could hear on the intercom was fk, fk, fk .. .

I had a nice line of sting marks down my chest to my belly. Still, when I got the little bd out of my shirt I had the joy of stamping it so flat it could be used to measure vavle clearances.

Riding along down a twisty road I noticed a wasp wandering around on the inside of my visor. Not wanting to get stung on the face I immediately opened the visor at speed hoping the wind blast would blow him away. After a few seconds I closed the visor again but he was still there! Little bugger must have been hanging on for dear life.

I stopped and whipped the helmet off but he had disappeared. I’ve no idea how he got in there.

Yup, hit on the neck and the little bugger fell down inside my leathers. Never thought anything of it until it started stinging. Stopped, got off the bike, unzipped my leathers and the wee fker flew away! didnt even get my revenge!

Haha, I had exactly the same about a month ago. Riding home, big whack on the neck, then kept getting these sharp pains in my neck and shoulder region.

I'm new to riding so thought it must be down to some kind of quirk, just extra strains on parts of my body I've not used much before.
It was only when I got home and started getting more sharp pains that I instinctively grabbed the area and pulled out a wasp, guts half out. bd.

I had to google "jasper" - not heard that one before!

Had one sting me in the face in Spain riding off-road with ToroTrail. Luckily Lyndon carried an anti-histamine jab in his first aid kit.

I forgot to say, that's the first time I've had a sting in my ~35 years of existence.

Would've been a bad time to find out I was allergic...

I've had a few over the years

Last one was April 2022 on way back from a tour in south france. Managed to go in the top of my leather jacket and I thought a stone or something had just gone down my jacket. It gave me an almighty sting right in the middle of my stomach. I just pushed against in from outside my leathers and rubbed about which killed it. Took the jacket off and had it drop on the floor. Formerly piginawig on here was with me when it happened.

Had twice moto-x (once was a race) where they have gone under my top. Worst one being the race meet in King Lynn. Must've stung me 3 times up my arm again before I realised as I thought it was just rocks/mud flicking up hard from other bikes

Same happened to me except it was a Bee not a Wasp...... Bee's can sting more than once!!

I've been had twice by these buggers! Both times close to my neck when they somehow managed to get inside my visor.
Also had a VERY close call when a pheasant flew across me, inches away from my visor at 60mph.
I had a deer run out in front of me, only to double back in panic - scary.
The worst was a squirrel running out into my footpeg - almost broke my foot, but it somehow managed to crawl back to the verge. Must have had the mother of all headaches.....

I've been stung by a wasp whilst driving. Was at work, stopped the van and stripped my top off. It hurt like fk.

Similar to above had a few birds/deer come at me on the bike. Bats seem to be my favourite at the moment.

Arrived home on one of the hot days a few weeks ago, removed my helmet, poured cold water over my head, and a groggy looking wasp appeared in the sink.

I wasn't stung, but now I keep the top vent closed. smile

Never heard of the Jasper nickname either!

Two quick ones from me. Neither riding-related but one was driving at least.

Driving one I was heading home from work in my mk1 MR2 t-bar (two-one - white & rust wink). Had a wasp buzzing above my head and was desperately trying to remove my t-bar whilst driving along. Managed it, got rid of the sod and saw the guy behind me cracking up at me.

Then recently, having not been stung for 20-ofd years, I was in the garden having a bbq. Had a can of cider (chavvy?) on the table in front of me and was aware of the presence of wasps. For some reason I picked up the can and had a good look inside, including using the torch on my phone. Not sure why I did it; yeah there were wasps around but there always are and I don’t recall doing it before… anyway I satisfied myself that my drink was safe to drink. 10 seconds later, sharp pain in mouth and stung on the inside of my lip. Oh the irony of the only time I ever check is also the only time I ever get stung that way!

If we're going to include incidents in cars:
Couple of years back a pigeon was sitting in the middle of the road & didn't react in time to my car. Decapitated with feathers & entrails clogging the radiator. What a mess!
Many moons ago I opened the sunroof in my trusty Peugeot only for a large bird, possibly a seagull, to st directly through it onto my head, sunglasses & shirt whilst sat at the lights. Several bystanders watched in amusement....

Years ago a mate was hit stung by a great big bumble bee that he collided with when we were out on a ride, I kid you not he looked like the elephant man within 20 mins, couldn't get his helmet back on if he tried.

The nastiest thing I ever hit was a fox on my Honda 125 when I was a kid. It ran straight into the side of me when I was riding down a steep hill at full leptons one dark night. I was covered in fox bits, I actually threw away the cloths I was wearing when I got home, I looked like an extra from a cheap horror movie. Bits of the fox were gently cooking on my engine and it stunk!

Cycling home on my lunchbreak today, wasp and man collide at speed, the wasp got caught under the edge of my baseball cap and stung me a good couple of times around the temple before I managed to pull it out... in the process I lost my hat and glasses, very nearly came off the bike, and also managed to run said glasses over.

I've chucked some ice and bite cream on it, taken anti histamines, and it still hurts like an absolute bd.

Wasps are just dheads... leave them alone and they'll leave you alone, my arse!

The burning question is, were they sunglasses, and were they on top of your hat? wink

A couple of years ago I was cycling down a hill less than a mile from home and got a wasp in my mouth. It stung me on the back of the throat. I managed to spit it out and it won’t be stinging anyone again. The pain was relatively mild, but fearing problems, I turned round went home, via the pharmacist which was on the way. He suggested ringing 111 and sold me some anti-histamine pills. 111 returned my call very quickly and as I was not yet suffering problems they suggested that if there was any sign of swelling or feeling worse I should go to A & E but otherwise just keep alert. Nothing ever got worse and the discomfort passed in a couple of hours. Not much of a story, I am afraid.

A week later, on the bike again, I felt something sting me under my shirt, on my waistband. What it was I never found out but it was much more painful than the wasp. It swelled significantly and itched quite badly before fading away a few days later.
Nothing since despite having cycled several thousand miles since.
