Terrible news and a big loss for BSB.

I was only having a conversation about him with my Dad a couple of days ago, saying what a big loss to BSB it would be if the PBM team pulled out one day. Very unexpected news, and sad too; 56 is no age.

You have to think Irwin and Bridewell will go all out to get 1-2 in the Championship, win the Teams Cup as a last hurrah for PBM and to create a lasting memory of the team.

Sad to see him go so young frown

Jesus. I know they said he was ill on Sunday, but thought I saw him at Cadwell Monday. Sad loss.

He wasn't at Cadwell on Sunday as Glen Irwin referred to him 'at home'

That's a pretty big shock. he was, err, larger than life, shall we say.

And a little bit controversial but he put his money where his (big) mouth was so it's a big loss to motorsport.

A big loss to the BSB series beyond family and friends.

The team are a very close knit group and this will be devastating.

Thank you Paul, for all the resources you have put into domestic racing for many years, in many series, classes, competitions and competitors.

A very divisive individual but always respected what he brought to the paddock and the series, 56 is no age these days.

Horrible news. Huge part of the paddock and a father as well.
A lot of careers launched and saved on the back of Paul Bird. Never afraid to speak his mind either.

Huge huge loss to BSB…..and family obvs….

Put more into the sport than most for sure

One has to wonder if the team will even finish the season right now?

That's sad to hear, did a lot for bikesport particularly BSB.

I had the fortune to fly into his chicken farm a couple of years ago, and he took the time to show me around his many toys and Shakeys title winning bike, the team garage and the overly full trophy room.

Hopefully his team can wrap up the title in his memory.

I would think they have to finish this season, must be between Tommy & Glenn (hopefully Tommy) anyway, be a fitting tribute to Birdy

A terrible loss to the sport & especially BSB
