Treated myself to a new lid which arrived yesterday. Shoei Neotec 2 - suddenly being discounted in several shops (presume it's being replaced imminently?) so I picked up a £650 lid for £450. Happy with that!
Love the smell of a new lid too - 'new car smell' for bikers.
Neotec2 is excellent lid, and the build in comms works well. And goes loud enough to be usable if you wear earplugs. Unlike the system in the Schuberth C5 which is pants.Love the smell of a new lid too - 'new car smell' for bikers.

I was just looking at the Neotec last night on the Sportsbikeshop website as I am in the market for a new helmet, only thing that is putting me off are the " noise isolator cheek pads". Do they actually make any difference or do they just make you look like a hamster with full cheek pouches ?

GT Air 2 is what I got my eye on because of the integrated Sena mesh
Just dont like the seatbelt system
Think it works with both (GT Air 2 and Neotec) but you'd have to check.Just dont like the seatbelt system
Got myself the GT Air 2 and integrated sena (latest one) and I couldn't live without it now. Despite the ludicrous pricing

I think from September they can only sell ECE.22-06 lids so there's a lot of clearing out of older lids going on. Still a good lid though.
Not correct. There was an end date of July this year for the manufacture of ECE22.05 helmets, but there is no date limit on the sale of ECE22.05 helmets. The presumption is that as wholesalers can only bring in ECE22.06 lids from now on, the older spec models will naturally decline from the retail market. I have been looking at buying a flip up and for sure the Shoei looks a great choice. However, I like the idea of flip ups where the chin guard fully rotates to the back of the helmet. Been looking at LS Advant, Shark EVO ES and Scorpion exo tech. Prefer the look of LS but nowhere very local to me that stocks them to try them out. First world problems!
I’ve been eyeing a new helmet for quite a while, but it’s a bloody minefield. Current Bell Qualifier DLX is very noisy, with no pinlock so pisses me off. I want something quiet, sporty, pinlock and maybe iridium visor. Looking at everything from Scorpion to Arai, and everything in between. Really need to try some on.
Partly because of this thread I've just bought a new lid too after sitting on it for ages.
Went for a Schuberth C4 Pro Carbon to replace my very aging S1, bit of a Schuberth fanboy.
Half price at £350, although whether they actually sold any at that price who knows.
Annoyingly ebay are offering an extra 5% off on some Sportsbikeshop lids but not the one I wanted.

Had the Bell Qualifier and it sucked, with the visor down it was unusable in winter as it fogged so quickly.I got the HJC RHPA-11 to replace it which you can get for about £250. Comes with a pinlock and tinted and clear visors. It's also really light compared to other helmets.
Wife has a Shoei NXR2 which cost almost double HJC price, some of the material is a bit better quality but not worth it imo

That HJC has been in my list, but like I say..budget can start at £250 and an hour after browsing I’m at £600. Minefield.

600 budget is a decent helmet and jacket...

I bought a Shark EVO last year to replace my old Neotec. The EVO flip system is great, open face on hot days but full face when you want it, I just wish it was as all day comfortable as the Shoei.
I kept the Shoei and whichever I wear depends the trip.

Apparently you can request a double D system still from the supplier. They have to send it back to Shoei who change the quick release out for the D ring. Just dont like the seatbelt system
I was very close to buying the GT Air 2 but got a bargain RPHA 70 instead to try out, it's no Shoei but it's still very good.

The difference between my S1 and this C4 is night and day.
Tried it on and was testing the features and the sunvisor was sticky to operate. Had a look and the material it starting to peel revealing the adhesive which was then depositing on the lens of the visor.
The main visor doesn't click shut properly either and it's small despite being a 2XXL 63 and my head being 60cm, even accounting for the new helmet tightness.
So disappointed.
Is the Shoei much better?

Funnily enough, when I was researching I came across a Motolegends review of the Neotec 2 which includes the following phrase:The difference between my S1 and this C4 is night and day.

“Since the Neotec 2 came out in 2017 it has seen off the disastrous Schuberth C4, and now goes head to head with the more recently released Schuberth C5; but even against the new Schuberth the Neotec is still totally on the money.”
It doesn’t go into detail on what he disliked about the C4 but for a vendor to describe a premium brand’s product as disastrous is interesting. I’ve always been a Shoei-head since I started learning 22 years ago and was more looking for confirmation the Neotec 2 was a good replacement for an original version, but it still caught my eye.
