So, with the Frankenduc back on the bench for the umpteenth reinvention of a stupid idea, I'd been thinking about how to preserve the sprag clutch on the old girl.
She's running silly compression and rs cams which is a recipe for disaster for the sprag clutch if you try to use the starter motor, especially from cold.
So I've been looking around for a decent battery powered starter as the first line of defence as replacing the sprag clutch is a PITA on the 1198's

So I landed on this little beauty from an excellent company in Australia. Unit is beautifully made and even the polystyrene shipping box is bespoke made.
Comes with a foot switch and rubber rollers with v's to keep the boke centred on the thing.
Not cheap but good things rarely are although cheaper than some units I looked at from the US and Europe.

Some Frankenduc pics hehe
Basically getting her ready to spin over to check oil pressure before she is fired up.
Wiring loom, dash and ecu updated by BikeSport Developments (sat in a box for 3 years!!)
Aim dash needs programming for the sensors then hopefully she can get spun up...

Radiator and oil cooler by H2O from Italy. Twice the capacity of the standard items. Paired with a Samco 1198 RS hose kit sans thermostat

I was just thinking, all the (many) years I've been posting and lurking on PH, I think I've only ever seen one action shot of this near-mythical beast! biglaugh

They're both here in Canadabiggrin

RS is due for a good looking at, front cylinder is leaking water into the combustion chamber... suspect the water gallery has a hairline crack by the power valve... went hunting through some boxes and found the spare barrels.....

Hope is to have them out at Calabogie or Mosport next year.

For the Duc I'm waiting on some metric to AN oil fittings to complete the oil cooler circuit.
